Zwolle vs Vitesse by Meese
After two consecutive victories, over Nijemegen and Sparta Rotterdam, Zwolle had a dificult schedule and couldn't do much more in their next two matches especially since the team went on the road and firstly suffered 3:1 defeat away to Utrecht, but then took a point in a 1:1 draw last weekend when the team visited AZ Alkmaar.
Even though they took a point and were in the lead from 48th minute with a goal from Thomas, it needs to be said that the players of AZ Alkmaar deserved much more and created much more chances being way more dominant, but were only able to reach the equalizer in 81st minute via Friday. After this point taken, Zwolle remained above the red zone, currently being at thirteenth position which stands five points above play-out placed Go Ahead Eagles and the points are more than welcome for them.
Zwolle should be playing in 4-2-3-1 formation, with Brock-Madsen as their central striker but also with Menig, Thomas and Ehizibue as offensive midfielders. Their manager Ron Jans can't count at long term absentee defensive midfielder Rick Dekker who didn't perform so far, while injured and out are also offensive midfielders Erik Israelsson (2/1), Thanasis Karagounis (5/0) and forward Hachim Mastour (5/0). Important defender Dirk Marcellis (20/0) should be involved into this one.
After two consecutive defeats, both in front of own fans against Ajax and Willem II, Vitesse responded with much better performance last weekend as the team won over Go Ahead Eagles with a convincing 3:1 result on the road. Visitors were simply better, way more concrete and standing much more mature on the field, so didn't need to have a lot of ball possession in order to be dangerous.
Visitors took the lead via van Wolfswinkel in 19th minute, doubling up in 52nd vi Foor, while Rashica sealed their victory in 80th. Hosts only reduced the deficit in 88th via Crowley and didn't deserve anything else actually. During the midweek, the team did well to reach the finals of Eredivisie as they won on the road against Sparta Rotterdam 2:1 with a bit rotated squad and will be participants fo the big finals. They are at seventh position and remain in a must win situation.
Vitesse is set to play in 4-3-3 formation using Rashica and Nathan on the wings, plus Wolfswinkel as central striker. Guests are without injured trio: defender Maikel van der Werff (16/0), offensive midfielder Adnane Tighadouini (19/3) and forward Yuning Zhang (12/1).
- PEC Zwolle have seen over 2.5 goals in 8 of their last 10 matches against Vitesse.
With both teams being in a must win situation and both coming off from positive results, I can't see other way for the game to be played but quite an offensive approach from both sides. They both have decent level of quality in attack, while neither of the defensive lines are actually reliable.
