Zulte Waregem vs Maribor by Isaiah
Zulte Waregem dropped points in last Saturday's away match against Cercle Brugges as they were limited to a 1:1 only result. It has to be said that they were poor in the first half-time, but improved significantly in the repetition and deserved to equalize, although the equalizer came from a non-existent penalty.
In Europa League, the team suffered a heavy 4:0 defeat away from home against Rubin Kazan, as they were competitive in the first half-time, but after the first goal conceded in 59th minute everything collapsed for them and the team from Belgium couldn't avoid complete crash in last thirty minutes. Goalkeeper Bossut has said that they will be facing up against very serious team and that they will have to play 100% in order to obtain a positive result. The team has only one point so far, with Wigan being second having three points more, victory seems like a ultimatum for the home side here. They will be lined up into a standard 4-3-3 formation, while left back Verboom (7/0) suffered a knock and isn't available for tonight's game. Remains out of the action, important defensive midfielder Skulason (9/3), while the rest of the season will lose striker Leye (5/0) who is already out with serious injury for more than a month. On the bright side, left back Godeau (2/0) is back in the team.
After a coach change it seems that Maribor has returned to the winning ways once again. In their last Slovenian championship game, the team crashed Krka with the 5:0 result away from home and managed to keep themselves at the top of the standings, having currently two points more and a game less than second placed Koper.
However, in the Europa League, the team has two defeats in as many games, as they firstly lost 2:5 at home by Rubin Kazan, but then were powerless to resist to Wigan too, losing it with a 3:1 result on the road. Midfielder Cvijanovic has said that the team made best possible preparations for this game, saying that they will give 120% of their abilities, aiming only victory as any other result kicks them out of the competition after two defeats. Right midfielder Bohar (9/4) is out injured, same as midfielder Dodlek (7/0), regulars right back Mejac (8/0) and left back Trajkovski (6/0).
Goals are expected here, as both of the teams won't settle for a draw. Zulte Waregem remains favorite and surely will be able to score at least couple of goals, especially as Maribor misses their both backs, while the Slovenian side proved that they have decent quality upfront in previous two matches and should score also tonight.
