Young Boys vs Grasshoppers

Young Boys ended up the previous season winning the title in the domestic season with actually fifteen points more than second placed Basel. It's outcome that even their biggest fans couldn't hope for as it was huge surprise to see them winning the title in such a style.

With twenty six victories, six draws and four defeats, they were more than a dominant side but still failed to confirm their superiority with a defeat in the Swiss Cup finals which they have lost to Zurich with a 2:1 result.

As for the friendly results, they started with a draw against amateur side Breitenrain 1:1, but also with victories over Xamax and Altach, just to see themselves losing to Ludogorets 1:2. In last rehearsals before the start of the season, they won over Feyenoord 3:0 and suffered quite heavy defeat against newly promoted Premier League side WOlves with a 0:4 result a week ago.

No doubt that the team wants Champions League group stage this season, as they continue to improve their roster. Central defender Camara came from Hapoel Raanana, while left back Garcia came from Werder Bremen. Central back Burki left the club for Waregem, Belgium side.

Right defender Jordan Lotomba is injured for this one.

Grasshoppers, on the other side, had quite a difficult previous season ending it just a place above the relegation position having four points more than relegating Lausanne. They had plenty of problems during the season itself and actually had a lot of problems, mostly not being able to find their own form and perform in a positive way for consecutive matches.

With only ten victories out of thirty six rounds, they didn't deserve more, as the side looked quite unresponsible during the season as well. As for the friendly matches, they didn't get a single victory.

Their preparation period started with defeat against Aarau, taking a draw against Will in a goalless game. Zenit was too strong for them, while the rehearsal games ended up with draws against Austrian side Altach and Greek side Atromitos.

The roster was changed quite a bit this Summer, as the club overall seeks improvement. Left back Doumbia was signed from Bari, but more than couple of players came too. Most notable, offensive midfielder Holzhauser came from Austria Vienna, but also striker Djuricin from Salzburg and couple of more too.

There's no doubt that Young Boys remains a favorite in this one. However, knowing the reputation of Grasshoppers as a club and their quality, I can't see them entering the new season very slowly. A said, hosts are favorite in this one, but two goals margin victory of theirs would be simply too much. There's more than decent quality in the roster of Grasshoppers not to repeat similar season - especially not from the very beginning.
