Xanthi vs Iraklis by Isaiah
Second leg between the two teams for the second round of the Greek Cup. In the first game Iraklis won with the score of 1:0.
Xanthi experienced a home defeat by Atromitos back in the weekend with the score of 0-2 in a game where Xanthi had good performance but were unable to threaten Atromitos. The defeat from Atromitos stopped a streak of two consecutive victories over Kalloni and Apollo Smyrnis, but they should not be disappointed as their play was ok and they have nothing more to worry.
They welcome tonight Iraklis, who plays in second division, a game which they have to win in order to have chances to qualify to the next round of Greek Cup. Good news for Xanthi squad as everyone is fit and the only problem remains long term injured defender Vallas.
Iraklis lost their last league game away to bottom placed Vataniakos with the score of 1:0, a result that caused their coach to resign. They had a terrible game and they were unable to react in the goal they conceded at the start of the second half, and they finally lost by a weak team who celebrated their first victory in the league.
Generally the situation is not good at all for Iraklis. For another season their dreams to promote to Super League are going away, although it is still too early to judge, but their overall image shows that they need furher improvement to their squad. Main goalkeeper Huanderson was injured in yesterday's training and was left out of the squad, while key midfielder Marek Jarolim and top scorer Dario Zahora are both out of the squad too.
Xanthi needs this result to be back to the correct path, while Iraklis have several problems to deal with. Comparing their rosters, Xanthi surely has the best team and they should win today and qualify.
