Poland vs Colombia
Poland simply didn't have much of fluid performance in the first round to get better result against Senegal. They had ball possesion during that match and looked more better standing side on the field, however that wasn't enough to get the three pointer.
Senegalese left the ball possession to Polish side and patiently waited on counters. Once they took the lead via an own goal in 37th minute, it was easier for them to play as the defensive gaps for Polish team became bigger. Niang scored second goal in 60th minute, as Senegal stood completely satisfied with the result till the rest of the match.
All the Polish team managed to do, was to reduce the deficit in 86th minute via Krychowiak. There's no doubt that Poland needs to improve their ball movement and make much more concrete chances if they are to stand any chance of reaching the knockout stage after this game with Colombia.
Grosicki, Lewandowski and Kownacki could lead the attack of the Polish team. They switched to a three man defense against Senegal at the halftime and should continue in same manner. So, formation should be 3-4-3 for this one.
Colombia obviously paid the price of poor mistake and development early in the game against Japan. They were left with a man less in third minute when defender Sanchez got excluded from ball handling and with the penalty kick awarded for the Asian side.
Kagawa brought them into the lead from that kick, while the Colombians simply gave everything they could in the first halftime to attack and level up the result - which they finally did in 39th minute via Quintero. However, the side obviously stood without energy left for the second halftime and were destined to defend themselves.
Finally, Japanese reached that goal in 73rd minute via Osako deservedly while the Colombians couldn't figure out the way to respond back. There's no doubt that the team now simply must seek for all three points.
Falcao should lead the attack of the home team. Cuadrado, Quintero and ROdriguez should be his offensive support. Columbia should play in a version of 4-2-3-1 formation. Defensive midfielder and sometimes central back Carlos Sanchez is suspended for this one now.
- There have been over 2.5 goals scored in Poland's last 11 games (FIFA World Cup).
Both teams are under pressure and will be going for all three points here. Having in mind how both teams have played and that the Colombians paid the price of poor development of the match, I definitely see them as favorites here. Poland is playing somehow sterile football and are far away from reliable at the back.
