Japan vs Poland
After their victory over Colombia in the group opener, Japanese managed to get a point in a 2:2 draw against Senegal on Sunday afternoon. They were twice back in the scoreline but showed fighting spirit to come back from behind in a game where probably their opponents deserved more.
Senagelese looked more threatening at start taking the lead in eleventh minute via Mane. At the same time, they did look bit careless and paid the price for it with an equalizer from Inui in 34th minute. Asians had slightly more ball possession during the clash, as Wague brought Senegalese back into the lead in 71st minute.
However, once again they didn't have great reactions when defending and Honda was able to seal final 2:2 few minutes later. Overall impression is that Senegal was better, but the Japanese exploited their defensive weaknesses really well.
Japan will progress here with a draw, but the side has a perfect chance to reach the first position in group H. Osako should lead their attack. Inui, Kagawa and Haraguchi could be installed as offensive support. Formation should continue to be 4-2-3-1. They have no injury worries ahead of this one, but either much reasons to change the team.
Poland didn't look well in their opening game against Senegal which they lost with a 1:2 result. However, their performance against Colombia was even worse as the side suffered 3:0 loss. It looked like they had no real game plan for this match with very little usefull passes in midfielder/attacking section.
On the other side, Colombia looked like a side that exactly knew what they wanted and were waiting for their chances - showing really fluid ball movement and understanding between the players.
Mina brought them into the lead in 40th minute, while the Poles tried to risk more in the second halftime - even so without creating dangerous moments in front of opponents goal. They were only punished for their sloppy game with two more goals, in 70th minute via Falcao and five minutes later with excellent counter attack which ended with Cuadrado's goal.
With zero points from two matches in group H, there is nothing left for the Polish side but to play for their own pride in this one. Some rotations are possible and pretty much expected after very poor performance against Colombia.
Poland should be once again led by Lewandowski in attack. Support consists of Milik, Grosicki and Blaszczykowski per Polish media this time. Formation should continue to be version of 4-2-3-1.
- Poland have conceded at least 2 goals in their last 3 matches (FIFA World Cup).
With the development in this group, it's really difficult to see Poland responding in a positive manner here. It's all about Japenese who are in commanding position to take the first position. They might not press to much here, but are definitely closer to all three points.
