Germany vs Mexico
Germany had great qualifying experience with all ten victories in their group. They were drawn together with Northern Ireland, Czech Republic, Norway, Azerbaijan and San Marino. Finally, they ended up with a 5:1 victory at home over Azerbaijan and ended with eleven points more than second-placed Northern Ireland.
As for the friendlies, it looked like something went wrong with them after qualifiers. They had draws against England, France, and Spain, also losing to Brazil in March. As for the latest games, they suffered 2:1 defeat away in Austria. Finally, at the last rehearsal, the side won 2:1 against Saudi Arabia more than a week ago.
Werner could lead the attack of the Germans. Draxler, Reus, and Muller could be in the role of offensive midfielders. Midfielder Mesut Ozil has returned to training sessions but is doubtful for now here.
Mexicans looked quite convincing in their North and Central American qualifying group. They have suffered defeat in the last round when they weren't interested much in a competitive way. It was 3:2 against Honduras away from home.
Other than that, they finished with a 6-3-1 record and with five points more than second-placed Costa Rica. During the friendly matches, they had some decent results after the qualifiers winning over Poland, Bosnia, and Iceland but suffered defeat to Croatia.
As for latest friendlies, they drew against Wales 0:0, won over Scotland 1:0 in both matches at their continent. Finally, they suffered 2:0 defeat away in Denmark in Bronby on 9th June.
Jimenez should lead the attack in 4-1-4-1 formation. Vela, Guardado, Santos, and Lozano are set to be offensive support.
- Germany have scored at least 2 goals in their last 10 matches (FIFA World Cup).
- Germany have seen over 2.5 goals in their last 3 matches against Mexico.
Overall, the Germans didn't show their best in last friendly matches. Even so, I expect them to bounce back with much better performance now when it's needed the most. Mexicans are having very different style and try to make more short passes and dominate the possession - something that makes a perfect match for the Germans.
