Croatia vs Nigeria

Croatia vs Nigeria betting tips

Croatians had to go through more difficult way to find their place at the World Cup. They only finished second in the qualifying group. And their second position was earned in the last round of the qualifiers. They ended up having two points less than Iceland and with three more than Ukraine.

That 2:0 victory over Ukraine was very crucial as they changed coach couple of days before it. Later on, they faced up against Greek national team in playoffs and used momentum well. Greeks were beaten 4:1 in front of home crowd, keeping comfortable goalless draw in the second leg.

They had an American trip back in March experimenting much and suffering 2:0 defeat against Peru and winning over Mexico 1:0. As for the most recent matches, the side suffered 2:0 defeat against Brazil in Liverpool early in June. They looked decently well in defense till last twenty minutes when the Brazilians upped the tempo.

Final rehearsal before the tournament saw them winning over Senegal 2:1 at home. Mandzukic should lead their attack together with Perisic, Modric, and Kramaric as offensive support.

Nigerians did well very in the qualifying stage. They had four victories and two draws in last third stage of the qualifiers boosting the morale a lot. The side had six points more than second-placed Zambia and was safe before the last round played.

That momentum was used well for the African Nations Championship to reach the finals in January losing to Morocco. However, this competition is of limited importance since only players playing in domestic leagues of each nation were involved.

As for the friendlies, Nigerians didn't impress recently suffering defeats to the Czech Republic and England with a narrow result. Moreover, they had a 1:1 draw against D.R. Congo and a 2:3 defeat against bit rotated squad of Atletico Madrid later in May.

Ighalo should lead Nigerian attack. Moses, Etebo, and Iwobi will be offensive midfielders. Francis Uzoho who is 19 years old should be their goalkeeper.

Croats didn't impress much in recent matches, but Nigerians did even worse. Probably biggest problem of Croatian lineup is defensive part of the game, but this shouldn't be the problem against modest Africans. Simply, their opponents are even worse there. If Croats want to progress further this is completely must-win game for them and I believe they'll get it without conceding. Nigeria didn't show much of a game plan so far in friendlies.

We appear weak but hopeful nonetheless. Yesterday it was reported that Leon Balogun (our best defender) is injured. Omeruo should be slotted in his place but he is sometimes jittery and slow. V.Moses is not playing with spark lately, he appears to be fatigued. Meanwhile, the team relies on collective display so it may not matter afterall.

P.s- the 2:3 loss against Athletico Madrid was against Nigeria team C as it was largely third fringe players and those playing in the local league. It was an arrangement signed with Laliga to boost the country’s (Nigerian) league.

It seems everyone is basing their assessment of the Nigeria national team on their recent friendly matches .what most people seem to overlook is the fact this team came unscathed from a difficult world cup qualifying group even with the coach not having enough time to work with the players. After qualification, they played Poland, argentina and serbia winning the first two while losing to serbia. In those matches one can see the real potential of the nigerian team.Quick, talented and full of confidence. Not many teams can from two goal down to defeat the Argentina national team
Against the serbs there were changes to the team. That may explain why they lost
The recent friendly is not enough to asses this Nigeria side as we saw yesterday with the Russian national whom everyone gave a slim chance having not won in seven matches before now. This is the world cup and the motivation is different.
The Nigeria team that played athelitico Madrid was the b team.Non of the current players in this worldcup squad played in that match.Against Congo, england and Czech the coach was experimenting with different players and formation.According to the coach,Rohr,it is the first he is having the luxury of time to be with the players
Against England ,the team won the second half and played better.Eventhough, they lost to the Czech they played better in the second half. What I have observed with this team, is that the right back, shehu, is creating too much problems for the defence he is not quick and he is the missing link. After half time the coach always replaces him with Tyrone ebuehi and the team starts to played better.Against argentinna the team played better and won after shehu was replaced.Against England,Ashley young was having joy on the left flank making runs into the Nigeria defense but by second half when shehu was replace for a quicker ebuehi, young was put in his place. He could not venture much forward. So if the coach makes the right selection then it would not be easy for Croatia to defeat this team with the handicap .
For me, I will go for btts or x2 for nigeria

  3. Football expert says:

Nigeria will definitely beat the croatians. The writer of this game, lack good judgement of the Nigerians team.
They are stronger than the croatian.

  4. Fairplaynaija says:

It’s just been reported that Leon Balogun will likely play (80%). He shook off the knock he had in training.

  5. Fairplaynaija says:

Confirmed: L.Balogun in starting line up. Team to adopt an attacking 4-2-3-1, fancying their chance. Over 2.5 smells good at a nice odd but I hope we (Nigeria) win. GL on whatever anybody decides.
