Peru vs Denmark (By: Stanioooo)
Second match of group C between Peru and Denmark.
These two teams are together with France and Australia, so it looks obvious three of the teams will play for the second place and every point is of really high importance. If any of the teams win a point against France it would be a big bonus. So, I expect opened match here, although a lot of people can think that both teams will be more cautious not to lose and that can lead to a low-scoring game. It's possible, you never know, but that's not their style, moreover they know they are the favorites for the 2nd place, not Australia and if they theoretically lose to France and beat Australia, this can be the real battle for the 2nd place, so 3 points here for any of the teams can guarantee almost for sure a place in the 1/8 finals. Of course, don't expect Aussies to give up so easy or these teams not to give a good opposition to France..
When I think about classy South-American teams, Peru just don't appear in my head..Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, even Ecuador, but not Peru. They were one of the outsiders in South-American qualifications for a long time, but not now! They played a play-off against New Zealand and won it 2:0 on aggregate to take part in the World cup. Moreover, Peru don't know what means to lose since the end of 2016! And in this period they have more than 10 matches in qualifications, play-offs against New Zealand and a lot of friendlies. In these friendlies they succeeded to beat Iceland, Croatia, Scotland, Saudi Arabia..but failed to beat Sweden in their last friendly after a goalless draw. The best news is that their main striker Paolo Guerrero is free to play after his suspension was overturned. Together with Farfan, Cueva and Flores they are capable of scoring goal/s for sure, even to France.
Denmark also took part in the play-offs against Ireland to earn their place in the World cup. First match in Denmark was so boring after a goalless draw, but what about the second one. It was maybe the best match for Denmark in the past 10 or even more years beating Ireland in Dublin 5:1. After that Denmark results in the friendlies are nothing special expect the last one. They lost to Sweden and Jordan, they also made two goalless draws against Chile and Sweden again, but beating Panama and at last Mexico 2:0. Maybe they are keeping their best for the World cup , who knows? And this win over Mexico was just the beginning.. No doubt Christian Eriksen is the main to watch in Denmark's team. He is the creator of most of their attacks, something like Modric for Croatia, but he is much better in attacking position scoring a lot from distance and free kicks.
If you just look at two of their friendlies- Chile-Denmark- 0:0 and Peru-Sweden-0:0, maybe it will be easy to make a conclusion they faced typical teams and goals were not coming, so here we can't expect a lot of goals..OK, but that's just stats. In most of these times it happens just the opposite and I am going with BTTS expecting at least 2 goals here in both nets. If the match was between Chile and Sweden I would go with under 2.5 goals without thinking more than 5 seconds, because they are good in defense, but Peru and Denmark are much more attacking teams who will try to win this match much more than being more careful not to lose. I don't know why but I have a feeling it will finish 2:1 for any of the teams, but don't know which of them.. it's a tough match to predict if there will be a winner and who will be, but BTTS is the best option for me here..going totally against the odds and logic if we look only these friendlies against similar opponents.
