Wolfsburg vs Braunschweig by Gustav
Wolfsburg was really close to secure staying in Bundesliga last weekend against direct opponent away to Hamburger SV, but the team still stood defeated 2:1 and will have to play against Braunschweig and decide their future in next two matches in next days.
they even took the lead in 23rd minute with a goal from Knoche, but the hosts leveled up via Kostic just ten minutes later. They even have created more chances than the opponent, but in the last phase of the match it was all of nothing for the home team which risked more and in the end it paid of to them, as they scored the winning goal in 88th minute via Waldschmidt. This was Wolsburg remained sixteenth with the same number of points as Mainz, but will be playing in play-outs thanks to weaker goal difference.
Hosts should be playing in their typical 4-2-3-1 formation with Gomez as central striker, plus Ntep, Malli and Didavi as offensive midfielders. Luiz Gustavo could switch here to center back, with Maximilian Arnold getting a chance at central midfieled. Vierinha should replace Sebastian Jung at right back position. Central back Jeffrey Bruma (20/1) is injured, same as right back Sebastian Jung (4/0), defensive midfielders Paul Seguin (22/1) and Riechedly Bazoer (12/0).
Braunschweig was close to secure the direct promotion to Bundesliga and looked like one of the favorites to get it, but everything went wrong two weeks ago when they visited relegating battlers from Arminia Bielefed and suffered 6:0 loss, which ment the team won't probably be able to seal the direct promotion in the last round.
Still, they needed to win after such a heavy defeat to improve the atmosphere and the side did - they won at home against Karslruher 2:1 on Sunday evening. In an overall open game, everything interesting happened in the first halftime, as the hosts took the lead via Kumbela in second minute, guests temporarily leveled up in fifteenth via Thoelke, but Biada restored the lead in 34th for the final result. This way Braunschweig remained third, with just a point less than second placed Hannover and three less than champions from Stuttgart.
Visitors continue using 4-4-2 formation with Nyman and Kumbela as forwards. Midfielder Quirin Moll should be back in the starting lineup, while they continue to miss central defender and sometimes right back Marcel Correia (15/0) and right full back Phil Ofosu-Ayeh (16/1).
Wolfsburg lost the safety zone last weekend due a last minute goal and now needs to quickly regain confidence and show that they belong to Bundesliga. With all the respect to Braunschweig, I'm completely sure that there's quite big quality gap between these two sides and there two leagues, so my stakes are going with convincing victory for the home team.
