Werder vs Hamburger SV by Gustav
Werder Bremen is now in a really decent form, as the team remained undefeated for eight consecutive game in Bundesliga and won against soe really reputable sides in the progress, coming from a 2:2 draw away from home against Eintracht Frankfurt last Friday evening.
However, the team was in good position to take all three points, since they had the double lead after the first halftime, thanks to goals from Junuzovic in 37th and Bartels in 43rd minute. Their lead was a bit against the flow of the match, as the hosts increased pressure in the second halftime and deserved equalizer via Gacinovic and Fabian. After wastly disappointing first part of the season, Werder is now seven points above relegating placed Augsburg and with just five less than Europa League placed Freiburg and have a chance to completely revert the season if they continue in a positive way.
Werder should be playing in 3-5-2 formation using Bartels and Kruse as forwards. Midfielder Philipp Bargfrede and offensive Serge Gnabry are doubtful, but with chances to recover on time. Injured and sidelined remain left back Robert Bauer (22/0), central defender Luca Caldirola (5/0), defensive midfielder Thomas Delaney (9/4) and midfielders Izet Hajrovic (10/1) and Clemens Fritz (18/0).
Hamburger SV had a very difficult game on last Saturday evening but the team managed to get all three points in a 2:1 victory over Hoffenheim in front of own fans. They were just a bit better during the match, even though the visiting side had a bit more of the ball possession, but weren't as concrete in attack as usually.
Hosts took the lead first, in 25th minute via Hunt, but Kramaric replied from a penalty spot just ten minutes later, however players of Werder took the three points with the second goal from Hunt in 75th minute, leaving no time for the visiting side to reply back. It was their fourth victory in last six matches, as the team climbed up to thirteenth position with four points more than relegating placed Augsburg and remain in a must situation to chase a positive outcome here as well.
Visitors will be playing in 4-2-3-1 formation with Wood as central striker, plus Hunt, Holtby and Kostic as offensive midfielders. Goalkeeper Rene Adler (19/0) is injured and will be replaced by Christian Mathenia. Central defender Kyriakos Papadopoulos (10/2) is suspended, while injured also remain midfielders Nicolai Muller (24/5) and Albin Ekdal (20/1). Centre-back Johan Djourou is doubtful.
- Werder Bremen have kept a clean sheet in their last 3 home matches (Bundesliga).
- Werder Bremen have scored at least 2 goals in 7 of their last 8 matches (Bundesliga).
Werder Bremen is looking just fine in previous weeks but are still not sure in the relegation battle. Similar goes for HSV which are full of confidence after their victory over Hoffenheim last weekend. Local derby between the two sides should be quite an open one, with plenty of opportunities for both teams to score here.
