Washington vs Arizona by 20Legend
Washington Capitals has been in a fantastic form this season with a total 43-10-4 to show for. Their fantastic statistics can very soon send them into the playoffs if they managed to continue this way. The Caps has only one loss due to their last nine games which says a lot about their form and a big reason has been Alexander Ovechkin. The forward has been in an astonishing form of late with at least a goal in eight of his last nine games as well. He has now put together 38 goals and 15 assists and he is playing on a team that has scored the second most goals this season with 191 goals in 57 games. It is only Dallas Stars who is better with 194 goals. They beat New Jersey Devils (4-3) in their last match, but it a tight game and a magnificent turnaround from the players on the ice. Goaltender Braden Holtby was not having his best game though, but is expected to try once more tonight as he has had an amazing season so far.
Arizona Coyotes (27-25-6) is experiencing some rougher times at the current moment, but that is also expected of such a young team. They are in the middle of a rebuilding which is led by players below the age of 25 years old. Their trio with Max Domi, Anthony Duclair and Oliver Ekman Larsson has still contributed to some very nice performances this season. They recently beat Dallas Stars (6-3) before losing to St. Louis Blues (4-6) in their last match. However, they were able to fight back after trailing 1-4 inside the first 10 minutes of the first period, making it a descent loss with 4-6 in the end.
It is a problem before this game that the mentioned Oliver Ekman-Larsson is doubtful before tonight’s game. He got a lower-body injury in the game against The Blues and he has been marked a questionable. If he is out, it will be devastating for The Coyotes tonight against a team like this. Ekman-Larsson is their point-leader with 45 points (17 goals and 28 assists).
This is a game where I expect Washington Capitals to dominate and take another win simply because the difference of level and form these days. Every game in NHL lives its own life and it is often hard to trust any 1X2 result, but it should be possible this time. If Ekman-Larsson is out as well, this should give The Caps even more chances to increase their power play percentage which has not been good of late. However, the young players of Arizona are not afraid of trying as they shown in their last game as well. With The Cap’s offense and The Coyotes defense and fearless minds, I actually expect quite a few goals tonight. The line of over 5 goals is tempting here.
