Vitoria vs Fluminense by Enzo
Vitoria lost 1:2 at home against Cruzeiro few days ago in the first leg of the Brazilian Cup game and qualification for the next phase now seems quite difficult for them. They were back in the scoreline already in eight minute and even though the team leveled up the score in sixteenth minute from a penalty kick taken by Renan, they couldn't achieve more positive result.
They had even a player more since 59th minute, but conceded a goal in 71st, without being able to respond further. As for the league competition, they are in the second part of the table, having only two points less than relegating worried Figuirense, but being on a decent run with four matches without defeat. Coach Mancini wasn't that disappointed after the Cup game, saying that his team played pretty well, but paid for some mistakes in the defense.
Home side should be playing in 3-5-2 formation with Kieza and Vander as strikers. Central defender Victor Ramos should be available for this one, even though he missed a training session few days ago. Defender Ramon is serving suspension, while injured remain goalkeeper Gustavo and midfielder Flavio. Defensive midfielder Marcelo is doubtful and might not be involved for ninety minutes again.
Fluminense, on the other side, comes from also quite a negative result, since the team was held to a 1:1 home draw against Ypiranga, side that is playing two categories lower than the national level. Still, having in mind that they are much more quality side, there's no doubt that Fluminense remains favorite to progress further even though the result from the first leg is alarming.
They were back in the scoreline in 25th minute, spent most of the time trying to level up the result which they did in 56th minute, even missing a penalty kick later on. This was their third consecutive match without a victory, having also only one win in last six, in a derby game against Flamengo. Same as Vitoria, they also have seventeen points and are just two points away from the relegation battle.
Guests are set to play in 4-2-2-2 formation with Junior and Alves as strikers, but also with the help of Cicero and Scarpa as offensive midfielders. Manager Levir Culpi is hoping to have Marcos Junior ready for this one, as the player recovers from a knock. Giovanni and Douglas are available after suspension. Offensive midfielder Geron and forward Samuel are still injured.
- Vitoria have seen over 2.5 goals in 10 of their last 11 matches against Fluminense.
Almost all their recent mutual matches end up with over goals and both teams scoring. I see no difference today, with both teams aiming for three pointer. Both sides don't have really reliable defenses and I see both teams scoring coming easily here.
