Vallecano vs Deportivo by Isaiah
Vallecano couldn't do much more last weekend when the team visited Atletico Madrid and walked away with empty hands in a 3:1 defeat. Hosts were better from the start, forming a double lead with two goals from Griezmann till 22nd minute. Visitors managed to reduce thirteen minutes later with a goal from Trashorras but that was all from them.
In the second half, hosts once again showed their effectivity scoring the third goal in 56th minute, while they lowered the tempo since then and generally, left the ball possession to their opponents. Anyway, Rayo Vallecano won't be too disappointed with this defeat as it was more than expected, while the team now wants to bounce back with a victory at home, after four consecutive defeats, three in Primera and one in Copa del Rey. Despite all negativity, team remains in the middle of the table more than comfortable with seven points more than relegation worried sides. Right defender Tito (18/0) is injured and won't play in next weeks, same as goalkeeper David Cobeno (1/0) and substitute midfielder Adrian Embarba (1/0) all three being injured, but all of them are already missing in previous weeks.
Deportivo La Coruna, on the other side, comes from a 2:2 draw at home against Granada, in a game where they have every right to feel disappointed with the final result as they were much better opponent through the game. Piti brought the visitors into the lead surprisingly in seventh minute, while the hosts took control over the game from then on.
Rodriguez and Perez overturned the score within four minutes, in 34th and 38th minute, to get the lead for the home side, as the hosts continued with slight dominance in the second half. Seven minutes before the final whistle, Ibanez equalized the score, while the hosts could have even stand without a point earned, having playing with ten men since 87th minute when Farina got red carded. With this point taken and only one defeat in last four matches, team is just above the relegation zone with two points above relegating worried Almeria and Levante. Visitors continue to miss striker Helder Postiga (12/1) who is injured. Important midfielder Farina (13/1) is also out for tonight's game.
Open game is expected between two sides which are in a very poor form with results and have nothing to lose in this one. Rayo Vallecano remains slight favorite here, but Deportivo works much better in offense than in defense and knows that they can't count at points here in case of defending only. All the value lies with over 2.5 goals in this case.
