Union Berlin vs Hannover by Gustav
After four consecutive victories and six matches undefeated streak in second Bundesliga, Union Berlin suffered 2:0 defeat away to Nurnberg before the international break two weeks ago. It must be said that the players of Union Berlin were at least equal to their opponents, but it simply wasn't their day and they weren't able to convert any chance into goal.
Both teams stood playing with a man less during the first halftime and it was a bit odds situation where the players of Nurnberg simply reacted better and celrbated the victory with goals from Mohwald and Teuchert, despite the visiting team having much more of the ball possession. The team played a friendly game at home against Swiss side Luzern and celebrated narrow 1:0 victory during the international break.
Left back Kristian Pedersen (8/0) is suspended for this game, while injured remain right back Benjamin Kessel (no performance so far), central midfielder Benjamin Kohler who also didn't perform and forward Maximilian Thiel, also no performance so far.
Hannover looks like one of the most stable clubs in 2.Bundesliga for now and the team has especially upped their form in last three rounds before the international break, getting alll three victories on the run. With five victories, two draws and a defeat, they are second at the table with two points less than Braunschweig and there's no doubt that their target is to get the promotion without having to play the additional play-off matches, so a victory here remains a must thing for them.
In the previous game they played, the team won over St Pauli at home 2:0, without showing all of their potential nor putting the whole effort in these three points. They limited their opponents to a really passive role and were dominating the game completely from the first minute, but managing to get the victory in the latter phase of the game thanks to goals from Karaman and Klaus. They are unbeaten away from home with two victories and two draws and a victory remains a target here as well, since the competition for the promotion is really tough this season and the team needs points badly.
Forward Martin Harnik (6/2) is injured, as well as striker Niclas Fullkrug (6/0), while the visitors miss few more players who didn't play so far in the season.
Union Berlin is far away from a naive side and actually they are doing quite well in the new season as well. However, as in many previous seasons, the team needs something more "extra" in order to match the best teams in the league and in order to win the promotion. Hannover is just one of those sides that have extra quality and should be able to promote, therefore, remaining as favorites in this clash for them. Odds are surely worth trying.
