Troyes vs GFC Ajaccio by Lucien
Troyes had a really poor previous season as the team relegated from Ligue 1 and it was very early relegation, which left enough time for the club to prepare well for Ligue 2 season and to seek for promotion straight away. Anything except promotion will be complete failure for the whole club. The team is now having 4-3-3 record, being at seventh position which is just three points less than third placed Amiens and four less than leaders from Reims.
However, it must be said that the team had quite difficult start and that they have looked much better in previous two matches. In the most recent game, they won away from home against Amiens narrowly 1:0, with a goal scored in 47th minute via Giraudon. It was quite a defensive game from both sides, but the visiting players looked more concrete and once they took the lead, they had no problems to keep it.
Home side will miss defenders Jimmy Giraudon (9/2) and Jeremy Cordoval (8/0) and midfielder Tristan Dingome (10/1) who are all suspended. Injured are defenders Mory Kone (no performance so far), Rincon (as well), Johann Obiang (9/0) and midfielder Xavier Thiago (0/0).
GFC Ajaccio also relegated from Ligue 1 last season and similar to their tonight's opponents, the team was looking as one of the favorites for promotion before the season has started. As for now, they didn't impress much, but there's still plenty of time left since the team currently stands at tenth position, with 3-5-2 record for now.
That would be five points less than leaders from Reims, while the team stands out of all the other teams as one of the most defensive sides. They rarely concede goals, but at the same time have problems creating real chances and scoring goals for now - only nine goals scored and eight conceded in ten matches. The team broke a streak of five consecutive matches without a victory before the international break with a 0:3 win on the road against Tours. During the international break, they had a friendly match away to Bastia and lost it with 2:1 result. Visiting side should have no fresh injury worries ahead of this match.
Troyes is looking better and better as the team progresses and I expect them to be one of the favorites for promotion very soon. GFC Ajaccio is far away from a naive side, but the team over performed a bit in previous few matches on the road and getting points here would be simply too much for them, at least in my eyes. Value is with the home team, even though the draw option can't be completely overwritten, therefore, I'm opting for a more safe solution.
