Tromso vs Lillestrom by 20Legend
Tromso has managed to make a gap of four points clear from the relegation zone with two wins in the last three games. Both wins came at home against Viking (2-1) and Sogndal (2-0) and it was also strong performances. 7-6-10 and 27 points is enough to capture a current 12th place, but it is not a long way back to the relegation line. It is therefore necessary to have the same mentality tonight as they had against Sogndal last weekend. Tromso was better both in terms of precision, but also tactically. Tromso got the advantage of getting the first goal after 26 minutes before heading into a more defensive mode. Sogndal then answered on sending more men further up on the pitch that gave more room for Tromso to exploit. The home team doubled the lead after 40 minutes and enjoyed a perfect result at halftime.
The second half came out a bit differently as Tromso had an aggressive attitude in order to defend their lead. Even though Sogndal had most of the possession, both teams managed to create a couple of chances without scoring. The teams ended up neutralizing each other in the end and Tromso grabbed three vital points. Right-back Hans Norbye (21/0) is suspended tonight.
Lillestrom is another team involved in the lower half of the table. With only 23 points and 5-8-10 it has been another disastrous season for the traditional club. Economic problems and the selling of key-players in mid-season have almost become a ritual for this team. As they have just managed to keep floating in previous seasons, it may now result in their first relegation after over 40 years in Tippeligaen. After a very irritating period with three straight draws, another loose came against out-of-form Odd (2-4) last weekend. Lillestrom was off to a great start after taking the lead after 35 minutes, but Odd managed to equalize just before halftime. The second half turned out even worse for them as Odd went up in the lead after a brilliant free kick. The game was really equal in terms of creating chances and it looked like a forth draw in a row when Lillestrom got back to 2-2 after 84 minutes. However, the downhill kicked in twice during the stoppage time and Odd grabbed a flattering 2-4 win back home.
Tromso has managed to get a slightly momentum going at home lately with two straight wins, while Lillestrom has not been able to stay the full distance in their latest performances. However, it is the 12th and 13th place that faces each other tonight which should really give plenty of motivation both ways. Neither of the teams is safe which also creates a certain nerve here. Tromso has managed 4-3-4 at home this season, while Lillestrom has just 1-1-5 away. Although Tromso becomes favorites, Lillestrom cannot afford to lose points in this important match. Lillestrom’s striker Erling Knudzon has stated that their only target is to score at least one goal, and that is exactly the right mentality towards a game like this. The game should contain goals from both teams at Alfheim Stadion tonight.
