Trelleborgs vs Qviding by Sweem
Apart from Allsvenskan and Superettan, all other lower leagues are also underway in Sweden this weekend. Moving the sights to the southern part, we find Trelleborg taking on Qviding. The ambition is clear for Trelleborg who has been one of the biggest names in division 1 southern region for a long time. The organization has not been ran properly before but is slowly getting better.
The first stage is to promote back to Superettan again and the club has acted on the market in order to possess a strong team that should be able to clinch a league title. Early on the season, Trelleborg have started well with a 3-2 victory over newcomers Eskilsminne, and another 1-3 victory against Osters on the road which was a big statement to the rest of the league. Victories build confidence and this is no exception. What has changed in the Trelleborg squad? In recent season they have struggled the score, and the only way to solve this is to sign a profilic striker and build the offense from there. Salif Camara-Jonsson was signed from derby rivals Lund, the 31 year old striker is a regular goal scorer and probably the best finisher in the league. He scored 41 goals in 74 appearances for Lund, and has started brilliant as well in his new club. Also winger Admir Osmansevic arrived from Lunds, an offensive threat up front with a goal scoring approach. For a winger, he scored 26 goals in 85 matches for his previous team. This effectively means that Trelleborg signed the two best player from one of the highest scoring teams in recent years, and they this has added a whole new dimension to the Trelleborg offense. Apart from the new signings, Trelleborg does have a competent coach in Patrick Winqvist who is new as well. There is a lot of experience in the team overall led by the offensive midfielder Kristian Haynes who has several games in Allsvenskan on his resume. It is worth to mention that Trelleborg does play on natural grass, which is something many teams have to adjust to who are normally used to artificial turf.
The squad situation is currently pleasant for the hosts, who get back winger Zoran Jovanovic. However, they will be without central defender Robin Jacobsson and central midfielder Philip Cascalheira. For a team with this depth, there should be no crisis to fill the void.
The opponents on the other side, Qviding have opened with two straight 0-0 matches and have shown a good defensive structure but very little on the attacking side. Even the newcomers Hollviken managed to get a 0-0 draw against Qviding who are a quite experienced division 1 team in this region. They do get credit for trying to play attractive but the natural grass surface is something they do not encounter too often and might be a trouble for their passing rhythm here.
The tactics seems to be structured with a 3-5-2 formation where striker Nicolas Sandberg is meant to carry the team forward with his experience from playing in Denmark. Another factor is that the team is overall very young (third youngest team in the league) and can face problems when experienced opponents will be the dictating force especially. Most likely, the lineup will remain the same as verus Landskrona (0-0) and defense will continue to be priority when they visit Vangavallen Stadium in the harbour city of Trelleborg. Rainy weather is expected, not really benefictial for either side but home factor is usually something that Trelleborg really benefits from as they in fact have a proper stadium of Superettan standard. Qviding have shown no offensive potential yet and therefore, for obvious reasons it is difficult to find arguments to back them for a victory at this stage.
Noticeably, the home team has won the last 6 of 7 matches between these two.A season ago this would have been a different story and a the doubts would have been with Trelleborg. However, the opening rounds have shown the instant impact of the new offense that Trelleborg possess, and if they do not manage to promote this season then the question is if they ever will - therefore, all pressure is on the home side. Qviding will happily take a point from this encounter but I find it difficult to believe they can frustrate Trelleborg in a full 90 minute effort. Currently the hosts average three goals scored per game, they should be able to squeeze at least two or more here by themselves while Qviding should be happy if they get on the scoreboard at all. -1 AH offer a decent price and deserves a few coins.
