Trapani vs Ternana by Enzo
With great effort in last weeks of previous season, Trapani managed to secure the salvation in Serie B having won three out of last five rounds played. The team continues in Serie B for this season too, but this time with a bit more concrete targets, they want to achieve the mid-table position as soon as possible and remove any kind of relegation troubles they had in previous year.
Coach Serse Cosmi did a good job since March when he took over the club and will continue for this season as well. They already played two official matches, having won in Cup game against Como 1:0, but then being excluded on penalty kicks against Cagliari one week later. During the friendly games, their most notable results were 1:1 draw against Samprodia and a 2:0 victory over Verona Feralpisalo. During the transfer window they did quite a lot changes, signing two players from Palermo: goalkeeper Fulignati and central defender Accardi, right full back Fazio (Ternana), but also midfielder Sodinho (from Brescia), Eramo (from Sampdoria, previously playing at Ternana) and offensive players Torregrossa (31 matches, 8 goals last season in Serie B) and Montalto from Martina. Experienced central defender Terlizzi and midfielder Nadarevic are long term absentees.
Ternana exactly had to wait till the last round in order to seal their stay in Serie B, in a home victory over already relegated Varese. Similar to their opponents, their goal is also to try to stay out of the relegation battle near the end of the season and have at least a bit more peaceful season this time.
Coach Domenico Toscano was installed as a new manager before the start of the new season, coach whose biggest success was promoting Novara one year before to this category. They did well to win over Bassano 2:0 at home in the first round of Italian Cup, but then suffered 1:0 defeat in second round to Crotone and got excluded. Goalkeeper Mazzoni came from Livorno, defenders Gonzalez from who came Verona (but previous season played in Caglairi) and Zanon from Frosinone. Midfielders Coppola (Catania), Signorelli (Empoli), Grossi (Virtus Lanciano) and Busselato (from Citadela) also came, while the club have left six players this Summer. Goalkeeper Mazzoni is suspended for this one, same as midfielder Busselato and striker Dugandzic. Full back/midfielder Valjent and midfielder Signorelli are away on international duty.
Trapani is known traditionally for their strong performances at home. Ternana is expected to face difficulties early in the season due to many changes in their roster and the home victory surely has value this time.
