Trabzonspor vs Basaksehir by Isaiah
Trabzonspor had all the chances to walk away with a three pointer last weekend, but the team took only a point in a 1:1 game away to Adanaspor and said goodbye to their chances of reaching the fourth position this season. With three rounds till the end, they have eight points less than fourth placed Fenerbahce and it's sure the team can't get the European exit this time.
They had more of a ball possession and took the lead in 20th minute via Yazici, with the hosts replying in 31st with a goal from Foguinho Renan. Players of Trabzon remained with more ball control and even had the numerical advantage from 81st minute when midfielder Gueye left with two yellow cards the home team, but the scoreline change never came as the visiting side didn't look that concrete with the ball to their feet.
Home side should be playing in a version of 4-2-3-1 formation using N'Doye as central striker, plus offensive midfielders Bero, Sahan and Yazici most likely. They have fully available squad to choose from, since central defender Demirok gets back from suspension.
Basaksehir did well last weekend to overcome Genclerbirligi in front of their own fans with a 2:1 victory, even though the things didn't start that bright for them. They looked a bit better in the first halftime, but the visitors took the lead against the flow of the match via Rantie in 26th minute.
Much more detemined performance of the home team was seen in second halftime and they didn't have much problems reverting the scoreline, with goals from Mossoro in 57th and Pektemek in 65th minute - they managed to get the three pointer without making problems towards the end of the game. The team also progressed into the finals of the Turkish Cup with a penalty kicks victory away to Fenerbahce after ninety minutes and overtime played with ended with 2:2 result. Konyaspor will be awaiting them in the Cup finals at the end of this month as the team continues to be below leaders from Besiktas with two points less, still being in contention for both competitions.
Visitors are set to play also in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Pektemek as central striker, but also with Visca, Mossoro and Kahveci as offensive midfielders. Offensive midfielder Cengiz Under (30/7) is suspended for this match. Forward Mehmet Batdal (21/5) is injured, while right back Junior Caicara remains doubtful but with chances to start. Some changes might be expected after their exhausting overtime and penalty kick game in Turkish Cup last Wednesday.
- There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 8 of Istanbul Basaksehir's last 9 games (Super Lig).
Trabzonspor is a decent side and have had an okay season, however Istanbul Basaksehir continues to impress during the whole season and even though they come from a difficult Cup game, I see them being much closer to get a three pointer here even though the draw can't be excluded.
