Nishikori vs Wawrinka (By: Iniestaone)

Third round match from ATP Madrid between Nishikori (#7) and Wawrinka (#34)

Wawrinka got the job done today against Pella in two sets while Nishikori defeated Dellien 7-5 7-5. I think what awaits between Nishikori and Wawrinka is a two set victory for Wawrinka but I need to rescale a little bit as I don't have motivation after my two losses today so I will go for the safer option of a Wawrinka moneyline win.

So, for these two its been quite common to have ups and downs in their matches during this season. In Wawrinka's case, today was such a day as he was flawless in the first set against Pella but his level dropped a lot in the second and he missed some very easy match points before sealing the deal.

In Nishikori's case it was even more evident, went to 5-1 fast before Dellien came back to 5-5 and in that game where Dellien was serving for 6-5, Nishikori needed eight break points before breaking and winning the set 7-5. Second set was more even as Dellien held serve until 4-4 but then at 5-4 Nishikori was broken to 0 and had to rely on Dellien who is a poor server in general to have another bad serve game.

Obviously, neither Nishikori nor Wawrinka are playing at their top level but I think Wawrinka is a lot closer to his than Nishikori and I think we can expect Wawrinka to take much better advantage of Nishikori's poor periods than Dellien could.

My gut feeling tells me that Stan will win this in two, he was the underdog 6 hours ago when the odds were released but he has risen to the role of the favorite which I think makes sense.

Hard for me to say after they've only played one match each, will be easier to give a prediction after tomorrow. What do you think?

What makes you think it'll be Nadal? He isn't in his usual top form and Madrid is if i'm not mistaken his worst clay court tournament of the regular ones, only 5 wins

I think Thiem certainly has a good chance and Tsitsipas is looking good as well!

What more do you want. He is my eyes superior like Jurgen Klopp from Liverpool. Take a look on results of Roland Garros. His favorite surface is clay and this is Spain. People loves him. Then pick somebody else couse you are much better then I am.
Do you rembember my comment about Barcelona. Messi that day was amazing and I had to congratulat him but in the end I was pleased about big victory of Liverpool by Jurgen Klopp. I guess I was not wrong. This is a year of England football and I'm very happy about that.
I'll go with Petra Martic today. She is much fresh then Sloane.
