Kyrgios vs Struff (By: Iniestaone)

First round match from ATP Madrid between Kyrgios (#34) and Struff (#48)

So Madrid kicks off with a match that should be really fun to watch, Kyrgios is facing Struff and I think Struff is going to win

There is the obvious factor here as always regarding Kyrgios' motivation, we saw him win Acapulco and then go 2/2 in Indian Wells and Miami. He hasn't played at all since Miami and he is making his first clay court appearance this season, which is not beneficial for him at all because as I mention at times, it takes time to adapt to clay and that especially goes for a player who just doesn't play clay court tennis. Last season Kyrgios put in some clay matches was in 2016, he was 9/4 that season and it was also a huge season for him overall as he went 45/21. Last season he did two clay court matches, the season before he did six. There is always the possibility of the surprise when it comes to him but as of right now I am willing to trust history and see this match as Kyrgios killing time before the grass season like the last two years have shown

I went against Struff in his last match in Munich when he was a big favorite against Monteiro, however I did not expect Struff to be that miserable. 1-6 1-6, 41% first serve. I will chalk that up to him being drained after a long tournament in Barcelona which he exited after a close match against Nadal (5-7 5-7). He has now had five days to prepare for Madrid properly. I've watched him play both Monte Carlo and Barcelona this season and in my opinion, his fine performances in these tournaments outweigh his loss to Monteiro in Munich. He is also a much better clay court player than Kyrgios.

At the same time and place two Spainish girls will fight on surface which is favorite to them. Last year Sorribes and Arruabarrena had invitation on Madrid WC - wild card so this year they are again here. I can see Arraubarrena, mostly, she wants to end a game very quickly with results like 61 62 or something like that, but on other side is Sorribes, she is couple of yonger then Lara so she cant have experience like her. So lets see what happend at Bogota. Lara beat seed 8 USA, Chirico, then Larsson, Tig and for unknow reason, maybe because it was Final against Monica Niculescu in three sets, but if we forget second set 62 for Niculescu, Arraubarenna distroyed her with 60 60. Lara is playing very agressive, she put a lots of ball of the lateral side of playground, but also she is expert for putting directly to baseline. Its just two inch ( 2,54 cm ) and because of that she can count of possesion in the field. Another thing which I found interesting is WTA Race to Singapur. Looks to me that Lara is much better then Sorribes. I wanted to play on -22,5 games but since we have here two domestic player on what Spanish National Tennis probably counting for sure, its quiet normal to understand that each of them will be giving 100% .
The game start start in few minutes. I'll stay with Lara Croft ( Arraubarrena ) @1.57
