Munar J. vs Popyrin (By: Iniestaone)

First round match from ATP Indian Wells between Munar (#61) and Popyrin (#131)

Popyrin did an excellent qualification run where he defeated Kovalik and Rosol in straight sets, he was the favorite in those matches and he did what he was supposed to do. Surprisingly he was broken a total of three times in three sets in those matches but other than that he had great serving stats and I expect him to serve just as good against Munar as he is now adapted to the surface and the weather conditions.

Munar is coming to Indian Wells after playing four clay court tournaments in South America which means he will have to adjust a lot of his game for Indian Wells and he is not a particularly good hardcourt player, he does a bit better on slower hardcourts where he can play his grinding style of tennis but he plays too far behind the baseline to be a proper threat on faster courts and I can't see him defeating a big server like Popyrin now that Popyrin has played two matches here already and did so well in them.

Indian Wells is one of the lowest hard courts tournaments. So, it suits to Munar's "grinding style"...

I disagree, only the surface is slow with higher ball bounces but the weather conditions still make the ball fly very fast and it doesn't suit Munar's style

Master 1000 become one of the most dangerous hard court; which means, those are words from players, balls is like a bullit. Munar does not have experience at all. Why dont you have a look result since 2012. He missed so many tournament and he is quiet unstabile on fast court. On the other hand 1 st service of Popyrin is amazing high but break point is not good. After all he is from Australia. The problem of this match is odds which are equal @1.85 I think the best way to found out what is truth is to watch 1 set l i v e. Popyrin saw how it looks like to play while Munar did not. It is a big + for Popyrin !!!
In conclusion I also think Australian has chance to win.
