Andrew Harris vs Moutet (By: Iniestaone)
Chennai challenger final between A. Harris (#347) and Moutet (#145)
It seems I can't connect two wins in a row. Today Rublev had four match points in the second set (three of them connected at 40-0) and couldn't use any of them and instead lost the second and won the third as easy as I thought he would win the entire match. Very disappointing. For my Chennai challenger preview, you can do some slightly alternative bets such as a handicap bet on Harris or an over 21.5 games bet as the line is very low but I will be backing Harris to win this.
While Moutet is the better player between these two, I can't ignore some other circumstances. I think Harris has done a better Chennai final run, his last three matches here have been vs Mager, Davidovich Fokina and Gunneswaran and he won them all as underdog, a bigger underdog the closer to the finals he got. He played against the crowd in the semis vs Gunneswaran and after he lost the second set he did an incredible job not only to recover but to win the third set 6-0.
Moutet has had an easier route to the finals through Saville, Grigelis, Kuhn and Mukund. He dropped sets to everyone but Grigelis. He is a very talented player but he is still only 19 years old and mainly a clay courter. He has improved a lot on hardcourt in recent years but he is still facing a Harris whose professional career record reads 110/71 and 92/56 of those matches have been on hardcourts. This is the one and only surface on which he plays proper tennis and I think when you put his Chennai efforts this year into consideration its worth backing him to cause another upset.
