Basilashvili vs Cristopher O'Connell (By: Stanioooo)
1st round match in Australian Open between Nikoloz Basilashvili and Christopher Eubanks(it was not in the list, that's why put Cr.O'Connell).
These two players don't have direct matches, but one of them has much more quality than the other one and to be clear Nikoloz will have the edge here. I was surprised to see 1.30 or over these odds for his win, but will accept it as it's the 1st round and maybe most of the players will need time to adapt.
Christopher Eubanks is a very tall player, I think he is over 2m as height. He has the serve to win easy points, but his precision when placing 1st or 2nd serve can not be compared with Isner, Karlovic, Anderson or most of the other bombers in the tour. His serves are possible to be returned and Nikoloz is a player who I can trust almost at max level when he is the returner. He is aggressive from the baseline and very smart player, so Eubanks is going to have problems to deal with during the rallies mostly because of his height. In Brisbane he beat Klahn in the qualifications in three long sets, but then Ugo Humbert beat them in straight sets 6:2 6:3(you can easily see he is absolutely vulnerable on serve). He also played three qualification matches in Melbourne where he defeated Moutet, Aliassime and Portero, but none of these players can't be compared with Nikoloz as quality.
On the other side in Basilashvili who is seeded as N19 in Molbourne. Last season he reached the 3rd round after defeating Melzer and Bemelmans before losing against the semifinalist Kyle Edmund in long five-sets thriller with comebacks from both sides. So, he has to defend some points here, while his opponent qualifies for the first time in the main draw in Australian Open, so that's his main success.
About Basilashvili during 2019- he played only in Doha, but reached the QFs after eliminating Albert Ramos and Andrey Rublev before losing to Djokovic in three sets. It was a very solid match from both of them and Nikoloz showed that he can play almost as equal as Novak at this part of the season. He lost with 6:4 3:6 4:6 but showed he is ready to make problems to the best in Australia if they underestimate him.
I see Nikoloz as a clear favorite is this match, which is one of the opening games in the daily schedule. He has the game from the baseline and the serve to win most of his games comfortable against an opponent whos is not the best returners for sure and also can play good on return. He is going to make a few breaks in this match for sure against Christopher and if everything is on good level in his serve games, this handicap of -4.5 games for Nikoloz will not be a problem at all to be covered.
