De Minaur vs Simon (By: Iniestaone)
Semifinal match from Sydney between De Minaur (#29) and Simon (#31)
I watched Simon's match vs Millman and they were both looking great, Simon edged it out in the end with a tiebreak win but it could've gone either way. Simon's first set was by far his best, he won 85% of the points on his first serve and only had one bad service game which is the one he was broken in at 5-5. He still won the set 7-5.
De Minaur is yet to lose a set in Sydney but it could've happened in the last round vs Thompson where they broke eachother two times each and the set went to tiebreak.
Simon and De Minaur are quite similar in that they are no powerhouse hitters, they don't have big serves, they play a lot from the baseline and return plenty of balls. I think we'll see the first set cross the 5-5 line. De Minaur's first sets have been getting worse and worse since his win vs Lajovic in his first round and even though he is a huge favorite here, I see him having a harder time than the odds suggest.
