Laaksonen vs Kamke (By: Iniestaone)
Semifinal qualifier to Australian Open between Laaksonen (#166) and Kamke (#214)
Laaksonen caused quite an upset in the first qualifying round vs Ruud as he defeated the Norwegian 6-2 6-4 as a 4.30-ish underdog. He is now an underdog again, albeit a much smaller one, against Kamke in a match I think will be really good and long. The odds for the low line of 21.5 are high enough for me to bet on it, but I think we'll see three sets here.
Kamke defeated Bagnis 6-4 6-3 in his first round, which isn't that big of a deal considering the surface but still a solid victory in the opening round.
Both these players will believe they can defeat their opponent, they've started the season in similar fashion, they were both in Playford where Kamke got one more win than Laaksonen who ironically was knocked out by Ruud. Kamke is a better serve-volley player while Laaksonen is arguably more solid from the baseline. There's going to be all sorts of playing styles in this match and I think the 21.5 line will be crossed easily, even in two sets.
Laaksonen has never, in four tries, reached Australian Open and thats not because he's faced tough opponents, he just can't seem to compete at higher level than challengers and it'll be interesting to see if he can make the final qualifying round after tonight.
