Sandgren vs Cecchinato (By: Iniestaone)
Second round match from Auckland between Sandgren (#63) and Cecchinato (#18)
So last time I backed Cecchinato was in his encounter with Berdych where I had Marco +3,5. In that match, Berdych won the first set 7-6 and the second 6-3. Cecchinato played very well at times in that match but couldn't make more of his chances, he was a break up and serving at 4-2 but was broken immediately after. I liked what I saw from him anyway and Berdych played a lot better than I expected, he went on to give Bautista-Agut a real challenge in the final.
Sandgren only has two matches played so far this season, his first was a 1-2 loss to Millman in Brisbane and most recently he defeated Marterer in two sets here in Auckland in the first round. I believe he is being overrated by the bookies because of his good results last year and in this case because he has surface advantage over Cecchinato. His win vs Marterer should be taken lightly as it was more Marterer who lost it than Sandgren who won it. Sandgren was serving at a very poor 53% first serve (was 59% vs Millman) and Cecchinato will punish him more for that than Marterer could.
