Andreescu vs Su-Wei Hsieh

That's a SF match in Auckland between Bianca Andreescu and Su Wei Hsieh.

The young Canadian with Romanian natives is the killer of seeded players in New Zealand. She is only 18 years old, very good at doubles as during the last season she won the juniors trophies in Australian Open and Roland Garros. Maybe it's time her star to start shining. N152 in the ranking but she plays like a player of top 10 or 20. Bianca started from the qualifications beating Kucova, Fourlis and Siegemund. What about her results in the main draw- Babos, Wozniacki and Venus Williams! Seeded number 1 and 6 are out and only Venus took her a set in tiebreak in these three matches. Maybe I don't have to be so one-sided here, but Andreescu reminds me of Olga Danilovic in Moscow River cup during 2018. Both started without big expectations, but what followed.. Danilovic also was a killer of the giants there beating the seeded Kanepi, Goerges(N1) and Sasnovich and finally won her first trophy. Why not this fairy tail to repeat once again..

Su Wei Hsieh is 33 years old, much more experienced and I really love her style. She is just different from all the other players in WTA with these flat and deep shots. They don't look so frightening at first sight, but infact are so clean and can turned into winners without problems. Also the way she deals with break points on her serve- that's amazing! Typical asian mentality- she often goes in situations like 15:40, 30:40, 40:40, but finds a way to escape and to win most of these games. If she has a good day, she is capable of beating aggressive players like Andreescu. She proved it in Japan beating Qiang Wang, the young Chinese who was on fire in the end of the last season in Asia.

This is a battle between the youth and the experience, but in such kind of battles the experience is not always on the winning side. Andreescu just has the never die spirit as Simona Halep who is her idol and Su Wei is looking to have problems with that. The odds are equal for both of them in bet 365, while in Pinnacle they give little advantage to Su Wei. That's understandable, Si Wei is seeded as number 3 in the draw and plays solid tennis. This is like flipping a coin and to choose one side, but if I have to give priority to one of them it will be Andreescu for sure. I know Su Wei style very well and if she has a good day, she can beat aggressive style players, but if they control the rallies against her and she has to defend during most of the time- she will lose the match for sure! I will pick Andreescu to face Goerges or Kuzmova in the final, really enjoy her game in Auckland :))

Liked! Did you see Andreescu vs Wozniacki? She was really good, so hard to break

Yes, I watched the whole match and I lost some money because of Caroline :D

Aside from the money loss, a little one, Andreescu really impressed me. There was a game where Andreescu was 0:40 down on serve and succeeded to deuce it in critical moment. It was so long having a lot of chances even to win it. And after the break- bang, rebreak and then 1st set. That's not so typical even for matured tennis players! I doubt even Serena can do that against such a good returner and player like Caroline. She showed she has the spirit of a fighter on the court.

That's the reason I chose her here- maybe a little bit naive as she is too young to rely so much on her, but have the feeling she can progress to the final :)

I would go with Hsieh. I’ve seen the games against Wozniacki and Williams. I don’t thing Wozniacki gave it all in that game. For the top players this ATP 250 tournaments are more a preparation for the upcoming Australian Open. Williams... is not good in long races because of the age.

Hsieh is both young and very good in long races. I think she can easily break Andreescu’s games because of lattest’s generally big error rate.

This game can easily go in any way but I think that Andreescu cannot beat top 40 players continuously.

Also, the odds for Hsieh were bigger than Andreescu’s yesterday. Today it’s vice versa.

Vadim, really don't want to sound rude, but you don't know Hsieh at all. You lost me with your statement: "Hsieh is both young and very good in long races". 33 years old is not so young for me, in some countries she can be easily a mother of Andreescu. Secondly- why don't you compare both of them? Both of Andreescu and Hsieh are good into rallies, but Andreescu proved she can beat extremely good defender like Wozniacki, while Hsieh's defense is worse for sure. If you attack her most of the time with powerful shots, break her rhythm and don't give her the chance to dictate the points, she will give up, that's the reason she can not break amongst top 20.

Hope you watched the match and understood my point of view :))

Stan, you are right. Hsieh dissapointed me. She seemed very passive to me. I think if she pushed more in the 2nd set she could win, Andreescu being physically dead.

Anyway, I will try to bet against Andreescu in the final again. The problem ia that the odds on Goerges will be much lower fo sure.

This will be a huge mistake!!
Goerges disappointed so many times in that kind of matches being the obvious favourite. Value will be with Andreescu in the final. Games handicap, winning a set or even the match, will analyze it when I see the odds in pinnacle and bet 365 for the best pick, but don't be surprised if the Canadian lift the trophy tomorrow :))
