Cecchinato vs Berdych (By: Iniestaone)

I had over 21.5 games in Cecchinato's match yesterday against Lajovic and it started great with a tiebreak won by the Italian. I assumed the bet was won by then because I really thought Lajovic would come back and take, at least, the 3 games I needed to win my bet but instead Cecchinato tore him to pieces and won the set 6-2, finishing the match with a total of 21 games. Incredibly frustrating.

But lets look at some stats from yesterday: both players were great on serve, there were only 13 second serves in the entire set and zero breakpoints for either of them. In the second set, Cecchinato stepped up his game even further and had a first serve percentage of 82 and he won 100% (4/4) of his second serves. He had solid net attacks and looked unbreakable from the baseline. I think he has every chance of defeating Berdych as well.

Berdych is yet to face a player of Cecchinato's stature this year, his comeback after a 6 months absence has been very good with wins against Kohlschreiber, Verdasco and most recently Herbert. But his serve has been letting him down at times and I think we're still a few months from seeing the best of Berdych.

I think this match could go either way and Cecchinato should probably be priced a bit lower, odds are dropping on him but he's still a 3.30-3.50 underdog and it should be around 2.90. Still, him being too big of an underdog gives us great odds for the +3,5 AH bet.

I must be missing something here ...
You say Birdman has met Verdasco and Kohlschreiber and he is yet to face a player of Cecchinato's stature?

I’m confused as well does it mean Cecchi is a better player than both??

Guys, i understand what you're getting at but at the moment, yes, Marco is better than both Verdasco and Kohlschreiber, not only is he ranked better than both but he is 9 years younger and also had a much better 2018 season than both of them. He can challenge Berdych better, if you saw him against Lajovic yesterday you should be equally convinced as I am

Oook!
Now I get it. You ment Berdych is yet to meet a player in a such a form as Marco.
When you wrote stature I understood either physical (height) or reputation.

But man, Marco is truly clay-court player, not hard-court! Look at his results on hard courts during 2018- they are astonishingly bad. He gained more than half of his points for the season on clay, especially from Roland Garros.

I don't say this handicap can not go green for you, but this is a battle between two very different players. Marco broke amongst the best in 2018, before that he was a mediocre player and it was because of his results on clay. On the other side is Tomas, not in his best for sure, his 1st serve is not working on the level he wants, but still has enough weapons to beat players from his level and weaker. I am not sure about Kohlschreiber, but Verdasco is better player than Cecchinato expect playing on clay courts. On hard courts I will always choose Verdasco as a winner against Marco.

You have to wait for downfalls in Berdych's performance for sure. If he plays as he did it against Herbert yesterday, I doubt Marco will be a big threat for him today.

All the best :))

I'll go with Berdych, having in mind better hard court statistics overall. But I wish you good luck with the handicap. Maybe 4:6 6:7 for Berdych will make the evening for both.
