Medvedev D. vs Raonic (By: Iniestaone)

Early morning match (for us Europeans) in Brisbane between Medvedev and Raonic. This is one of the two remaining quarter finals and unlike the majority of the tennis community, I think we'll see quite a boring game between two big servers on a surface that is extremely fast.

Medvedev just defeated Murray in two sets, I'll let you guys decide how much value you want to put in that victory considering Andy is just coming back from a long absence but fact is that he is still one of the three best returners in the world and Medvedev won 79% of the points on his serve. He was broken once and it was literally the only break point Andy had. Medvedev managed to get 16 aces and the final numbers were 7-5 6-2.

Raonic has two matches played in Brisbane, two straight set wins against Bedene and Kecmanovic. This really is the type of surface where Raonic shines the most, his first serve percentages where 76% against Bedene and 74% against Kecmanovic. I see no reason for his serve deteriorating vs Medvedev. Against Bedene he won an astonishing 93% of the points on his first serve.

These two have played once before, in early October last year when Medvedev won 2-0 in Tokyo. That was an indoor court and a slower one than Brisbane, but the first set still went to a tiebreak there. I think everything speaks for their match in Brisbane easily going over the 10.5 line: they are both serving very well in this year's Brisbane edition, the surface is very fast and fits good servers and they are both better on serve than on return.
