Djokovic vs Federer

ATP Masters Cincinnati

Final

Novak Djokovic - Roger Federer

Australian Open 2016 is the last place these two all time greats have met and it's kind of petty so much time has passed without a Novak - Roger show.

Djoker leads 23 - 22 in the all time record, yet Fed has 3 - 0 in Cincinnati finals, while the serb is even 0 - 5 overall in finals played here.

Federer has chosen to properly manage his body workload and skipped Toronto. He came here and reached the final after playing 8 sets of tennis, with a beautiful 3 sets match against a resurected Stan the Man and a retirement from Goffin yesterday, after the Swiss took the 1st set.

Djokovic lost in the Toronto 1st round to Tsitsipas and came in Cinncy to play 14 sets in his route to the final, with 4 straight threesetters.

Federer looks to me sharper and combining this with the fact that, to quote Djokovic, "“It [is] the greatest challenge in Cincinnati, without a doubt–especially here–because he’s been dominating this tournament historically. He won against me several times in finals. Obviously he feels great in these conditions and this surface.” ... I see history repeating.

Three times these two met in Cinncinnati finals and Fed won each and every one in straight sets. I remember Djokovic saying in 2015, while being at his peak form and losing once again here, that he seems to need to expect Roger's retirement to win a Cinncy trophy. Well, I guess he's right.

Totally wrong mate, Djoker wins today. Why? You wrote it yourself, 5 lost finals already. Also he is close to his top form again, dont be fooled by rogers skills, he will not be on his best today.

Close to his top form?
Well, when his was not close, but in his top form, he was not winning sets tot Roger, in Cinncy.
He needs a slower surface in order to make his game.

Yet, with that second serve we've seen these days, he doesn't seem that close to his top form :)

Best of luck!

Yeah but he is still the best returner in the game and this surface is not among the faster ones. faster ones in A.O. suit Federer a lot more, but here, if Djoko manages to extend points to long rallies he has a clean edge. -1,5 sets is way too risky of a bet

I tottaly agree with Khum, maybe -1.5 set is risky but win is a definetly a good pick. Roger first serve yesterday-fantastic. Djokovic serve isnt working well and lot of mistakes. He is still far from his best form.

Fedex has not had any real opposition for long time. Djoker really wants this win, he pursues it today as he would be playing for US open final. Fedex has won it numerous times already. Djoker real rank should be in top 3 already (he will be rank 5 after the win).

Dont make mistake by loosing your big stake, wouldnt write this otherwise here.

Demogorgon, Cinncy is still the second fastest surface among the outdoor Masters events, after being the fastest one for many yeras.
In 2017 only Shanghai was faster.

Without a second serve much, much better than what we've seen this whole week, Djoker will not manage to extend the rallies.
I bet he won't do a magic trick and improve his second serve drastically overnight.

Moreover, Fed has beaten Nadal 4 times last year, 2 times on slower surfaces than here. And Rafito udes to be a more dangerous opponent for him.
So my suggest is not to translate the Djokovic - Federer matchup we've seen prior to 2016 over this moment, when Roger plays with a drastically improved backhand shot, exactly the one which was his weak spot in previous losses.
I couldn't care less about how much Nole really wants this win. I'm betting on how much I see him able to compete against a determined and, very important, well rested Federer.

Best of luck!

@Roimer

Mate, please adjust your approach.
There are no mistakes or wrongs.
There are only choices.
We're all taking them and learning from how they develop.
I respect yor opinion, despite it's different and I don't think you're wrong in any way.
It's just different perspective.

Where did you get that information about speed or velicity of hard surface. There are so many toutnament on hard surface. Can you explaine what makes a difference ???

There are CPI data collected by the Hawkeye systems.
There is the court pace index and there are also important factors as altitude, humidity which determine not only the speed of the ball but also the bounce, which can make a important difference.

I don't know if humidity affects the surface that much but so far I've seen a lot of returns, longer rallies, and fewer aces even when big servers are involved. We also have to give Djokovic some credit for 3-set his wins over big servers Cilic and Raonic even though he didn't serve well.
Roger's backhand is hit or miss. he either does something great or silly unforced error and since he is using it quite often, i just think that Djoko will try to keep the ball in play and take advantage. its a tough game

Yes, I'll give him the credit of being the more tired player for those 3-set wins ;)

ha ha OK :D I have my money on Djoko but anyway whatever the final outcome will be, I know tennis fans will enjoy this game, who knows if this is their very last meeting on a final.

You need more proof what i meant? Maybe you should follow more tennis, like watching the matches, before making predictions Khum.

Roimer, maybe you should take a cold shower and cool down. Here ain't a battlefield.
By how you're behaving I ain't sure you have years of life as I have of following tennis :))

If you need to feed your ego try this: make an account and start making predictions. Go over me in the all-time ranking and feel proud of yourself ;)

Those who follow tennis and bet on long term know very well a won or lost bet proves nothing in the big picture.

On the match, Federer was nowhere close to where he has been this week or these past two years.
Non-existent in return department, forehand down, backhand down ... in the later stages of the match even the serve was gone.

Congrats to Novak for becoming the first in history to win all the masters trophies. Somehow logical, as he is the most hibrid player among the greats.

You can try to explain whatever you want, but you made a big mistake rooting for a player who had nothing to play for after all those trophies.

Ok, boss.

If you're unable to view things from a bigger perspective, keep on doing what you're doing ;)
