Jabeur vs Zvonareva (By: FairPlayBet)
WTA Bucharest, clay, 2nd round
At first I was thinking here to take over the totals, 20.5 seems to me low when these two are in question. But at the end I opted for match winner market, I opted for bet on Vera Zvonareva. I just can't skip this amazing odds on the Russian veteran, not when opponent is someone who is out of Top 100.
We know who is Zvonareva and what a talent she was. In her best days she was world No.2 after reaching finals on 2010 Wimbledon as well US Open. But in years to come as well earlier too, she had numerous problems with injuries. And that was the main reason her career wasn't even better. She had to miss most of 2012 and 2014 season and entire 2013. She also didn't compete at all in 2016 after she got married and gave a birth to her first child.
After second comeback Zvonareva still had injury problems from time to time. But having all that in mind, her current 136. WTA ranking is not bad at all and we should give her credit for all attempts to get back at least to Top 100. IMO she will succeed in that aim very soon.
On the other side we have Jabeur from Tunis. Clearly not even close talented as Zvonareva was. Jabeur is 10 years younger, currently as I mentioned is out of Top 100 too (123. WTA position) and even her best ever was barely among Top 100.
Fact that Jabeur here in the opening round won against Begu 6-2/6-1 for me means absolutely nothing. Cause it's Begu, the girl who very often has such days, player who very oftem knows to lose sets even with 6:0 although being in the role of favorite.
Zvonareva in the opening round was better from Alexandrova 98. player on the WTA 6-1/6-2. BTW Alexandrova last week in Budapest easily has won against Jabeur if that could be some kind of example of the current form.
I also like how Zvonareva has played on Wimbledon. She passed there through qualifications but was unlucky to meet already in the opening round with later champion, Angelique Kerber. But it was solid resistance from Zvonareva who lost 7-5/6-3 from Wimbledon champion.
As for H2H, it's 1-0 Zvonareva. It was 2015 Australian Open meeting. It's true Jabeur back then was only 20 and half years old but Zvonareva wasn't in her peak either. It was match at time of one of her comebacks from injury.
We have 2.32 on Zvonareva money line that is amazing value IMO but we can cut the risk with this +2.5 games handicap. With this option I hope we could make a profit even with some three sets loss of Zvonareva.
