Siniakova vs Jabeur (By: Stanioooo)

2nd round in Wimbledon and a match between Katerina Siniakova from Czech republic and Ons Jabeur from Tunisia.

These two players have big bifference in the ranking- Katerina is N42, while Ons is N130, but their current form is not so different and I can't say easily that one of the players has big advantage here. Why the odds are so high for Siniakova, after she is almost 90 positions ahead of her opponent? Well, Ons Jabeur was eliminated in the qualifications in Roland Garros and after that she took part in some ITF tournaments on grass and her results were very good- trophy in Manchester and QF in Ilkley. Her only loss on grass was against Tereza Smitkova. In Wimbledon she started with a win over Viktorija Golubic from Switzerland. If I have to be honest, in all of her matches on grass till now she has one player who had chances to beat her except Smitkova and it was Golubic. But what happened in reality- Jabeur beat Golubic in every single of these three tournaments in less than a month. Maybe the Swiss is going to have nightmares when she hears about Jabeur.. but Czech player was the one, who eliminated here, so is this going to happen again? I think the answer is YES.

Both of the players are very young, but I know that Czechs are always good when it's time for playing on grass. Siniakova played only in Birmingham after Roland Garros where she reached the 3rd round. Well, her performance wasn't the best for sure- she was eliminated in the start by Kiki Mladenovic in three sets after impressive start by the Czech player. In Wimbledon she beat Coco Vandeweghe in the start after impressive comeback- in the third set Siniakova was 2:5 down, but broke her opponent in the last possible moment, leveled the games and won the set 8:6. She showed the fighting spirit not to give up till the end and it gave her the success. I think this wasn't occasional outcome..

I think Siniakova has better chances for two reasons. First of them is H2H- 4:0 for Siniakova and their last match was in Shenzhen a little more than half an year ago (6:1 6:1). All of their matches are on fast hard courts. The second reason which made me big impression is their 1st serve in the 1st round. OK, Siniakova's percentage was not so high, about 55%, but what about Jabeur..she was with less than 40%. That was one of the reasons she lost the 1st set 2:6 against Golubic. Then the Swiss also started with the problems on serve and Tunisian player turned the match. I don't believe the Tunisian will change much for 2/3 days and the percentage will not raise too much. The chances to be at the same level about 40% is much bigger. To play against Siniakova mostly on 2nd serve, when she can easily attack you, because we know that Katerina is not of the calmless players and loves to be aggressive on the court...this can lead to a lot of troubles and breaks for the Czech.

So, here stays one difficult question- what will produce Jabeur on return? Siniakova made a dozen of aces against Coco Vandeweghe, so if she can repeat at least this against Ons, will be of really big help! I have the feeling Siniakova's way in Wimbledon is still not over and she will reach the 3rd round once again after RG. Don't know if it will happen in straight sets or in three, but I am going with Siniakova and a little AH of -2.5 Games, which can easily happen if actually Siniakova wins the match. She is not a player, who plays long sets- breaks are inseparable part of her display on the court!

Close..Siniakova finally won the match, but with two games advantage, not the three we needed.
Part of the betting, sorry about it!
