Haase vs Bautista-Agut (By: Stanioooo)
2nd round match between Robin Haase and Roberto Bautista Agut in Halle.
Both of them has almost nightmare during the clay season with too weak results, but it's finally over and time for the grass courts. In Hertogenvosch Haase beat Ivo Karlovic in the start, but then he was surprisingly eliminated by Bernard Tomic in the 2nd round. His start in Halle wasm't the best one, but succeeded to beat Jousa in three sets. I still think it's a little advantage, because he has one tournament more than Baustista-Agut on grass, who started with this experience today against Struff. The start was excellent, beating the German in straight sets, but I don't think it will be the same tomorrow against his Holland opponent. Players need more time and official matches to be keen on playing on that surface and that's one of the reasons to play this match over 22.5 games, but I will give two more!
Not only the time they need to keen on with the grass is the main factor for the pick, but also their H2H. That's something maybe a lot of people will look and their last match was during 2018 in Auckland with 3 tiebreaks! They served so good without giving their opponent almost any chances on return and somehow the Spaniard succeeded to win it. Now on grass I don't expect such an outcome, but still think it will be decided in three sets. As I said in my previous pick, I don't trust too much on players results from last seasons, really prefer to watch their moment form and maybe their performance on the chosen surface during the previous season and if there are any matches on it during the current season. It made me impression that Bautista's start in Halle was very tough with 3 set matches until his elimination, something which continued during Wimbledon, where dropping sets wasn't surprising. It's almost the same with Haase. His wins were less, but in most of his matches he didn't give up easy and they went to three sets, while in Wimbledon he lost to Tiafoe in 4 sets.
It looks like this match will not finish so fast and over 2.5 sets is more than possible outcome. Bautista-Agut is favorite to win it for sure, but I will not underestimate Haase for sure. I don't expect him to give up so easy and that's the reason to chose over 22.5 games- pick which can be right, even if the match finishes in straight sets with little advantage like Federer's win 6:4 7:6 over Raonic a few days ago. The odds for over 2.5 sets are even higher- 2.50 in bet365 and I will try for sure+ Baustista to win the match with 2:1 sets correct score. Good luck!
