Simona Halep - Elise Mertens

First game on Philippe Chatrier and the one that has good chances to be played, as after that the rain is announced as a guest in Roland Garros.

Elise Mertens is a very good claycourt player and she has lifted two International level trophies this year, in Lugano and Rabat. After the second she came in Madrid, suposedly tired and apparently injured, and she was erased by Halep in a 6:0, 6:3 match. She took herself a break and when coming back she has passed in French Open over Lepchenko, WAtson and Gavrilova losing only a set.

Simona Halep is the no1 seed here and, to my mind, the no2-3 favourite, whereas I see Muguruza as no1 and Halep&Stephens as 2-3, as the draw looks now. She has passed so far over Riske, Townsend and Petkovic, losing only a set as well.

This is my favourite case of handicaping, where the underdog has quite similar qualities as the favourite, but not at the same level. Mertens is moving well, she's opening the court nicely and is not shy on coming forward. Trouble is Halep is masterful in moving (probably the best on tour) and opening the court and she has progressed a lot lately in coming to the net.

In this kind of matchups, the underdog can only hope for a bad day for the player across the net in order to stay close. It that doesn't happen, S1mona will have no trouble today.

Let's go green!

(I also have a bet on Johnson/Sock - Kontinen/Peers to go over 9.5 in 1st set @ 1.70, but cannot tip it here as Pinnacle and bet365 do not offer that market.)

Khum
:))
In the last phrase I ment Lopez/Lopez vs Kontinen/Peers, but I've mixed them, as I also have over 9.5 in the 1st set for Johnson/Sock - Herbert/Mahut.
