Pliskova vs Kerber
QF match between Angelique Kerber and Karolina Pliskova in Dubai.
Both of the players have played here last season and Kerber has to defend points for her SF, while Pliskova was eliminated early in the 2nd round by Mladenovic.Kerber's form is rising, that's obvious and also her place in the ranking. She has two defeats and all of them against the strongest players till the start of the season- Wozniacki in Doha and Halep in Australian Open. Here without Halep and Wozniacki in the main draw I believe she can grab the title.
Karolina Pliskova is a player with accurate and fast 1st serve, but when he got problems with it and had to play mostly on her 2nd, she is so vulnerable to making a lot of mistakes. She is not so flexible, because of her height and winners against her are highly expected, especially by the racquet of Kerber. Her performance from the start of the year is satisfying, but I was a little bit shocked by her early exit in Doha by Catherine Bellis.
To sum up I don't think these tournaments in the rich Asian countries during February are the best for Pliskova at all, she doesn't have to defend more points, her last match against Navarro was far away from her best which is not so good to be unconvenient before a match against Kerber. Adding the stats between them- 6 wins for Kerber against 3 for Pliskova I don't think the Czech will succeed to progress to the SFs, not against Kerber in such a good form. You have to be so patient and ready to play at least one more extra shot during the points against the German- Wozniacki and Halep can do that, but Pliskova is not that kind of player. She has chances against Kerber only if she plays agressively during the whole match with not so many unexpected errors. I don't believe this will happen tomorrow. Kerber is patient and I believe she has the better chances here not only to reach the SFs, but why not to challenge Svitolina(the current champion in Dubai) and Muguruza for the title.
