Sugita vs Dimitrov (By: Iniestaone)

After two bad picks on Friday from Quito, I decided to cut it short and wait for Rotterdam. This match between Sugita and Dimitrov caught my attention as the odds are dropping rapidly on Sugita since yesterday. Unibet opened the market at 5.00 on a Sugita victory, it stands at 4.50 now and might drop below 4. I am not certain whether this match is played tomorrow or on Wednesday.

So, Dimitrov had to cancel Sofia due to his shoulder not being fully fit. Its a tournament that means a lot to him since its in his home country and he won it last year so he missed out on a lot of points. The fact that he did not even take a stab at it tells me his shoulder might be in serious problems and Sugita really is not a good player to face when one is not fully fit as the Japanese is very mobile, returns a lot of shots and has a good variation to his game which might frustrate Dimitrov who aside from his injury concern is a very unreliable player.

Sugita is having a decent year so far, he took a set from Khachanov in Auckland, he defeated Sock in Australian Open and lost the following round to Karlovic at 10-12 in the final set. He then played two five set matches in Davis Cup where he defeated Seppi but lost to Fognini. Playing 10 sets in 2 days might explain his early Montpellier exit to Millman but that was 5 days ago, he has had time to prepare for Rotterdam and I don't think he should be a 4.50 underdog vs Dimitrov considering the circumstances

There are a lot of circumstances why he decided to miss the tournament in Sofia, not only because he had little problems in his shoulder. Believe me, he's totally fit for this match against Sugita. The first reason to reject playing in Sofia was because the main sponsor Garanti Koza got out about 2 months before the start of the tournament and they promised some top players in this tournament and more money. After Australia he understood that there will be absolutely no top players in the tournament even players who are part of top 20 and he decided just to declare he has a shoulder problem and that's the reason not to play.

That act was so stupid and a lot of Bulgarians who bought tickets for the tournament mostly about him ar still so frustrated. I saw some of his trainings in Rotterdam and there were no signs of shoulder injury. He and his manager just decided to miss Sofia tournament, because they know this is its last year and maybe they were something like lied by the main sponsor during the tennis break in December. But what about the Bulgarian audience- now a lot of people started even to hate Grigor about this act - to put money and other sponsor deals over participation in your own country so we have to watch a final like Basic-Copil...

To sum up, I expect Grigor to perform well in Rotterdam, but his act is still shitty like his refusing to play in David cup for Bulgaria for another year..

He might not have problems with his shoulder , but he can still lose to anyone.

I don't see Dimitrov losing in first round here, but he could definitely lose the first set
