Stuttgart vs Werder by Gustav
Stuttgart suffered 3:1 defeat away from home against Wolfsburg last weekend in a game that anyway nobody expected them to walk away with points. However, the team stood quite competitive, playing on counter attacks for the most of the game. However, they conceded the second goal for 2:1 lead of Stuttgart and lost their balance from then on, conceding another one till the end.
Still, some positive signs were seen in this game, as the team of Huub Stevens remained quite well on the field till the 65th minute (when they conceded the second goal) and showed that the team has determination and quality to play against some of the strongest sides in the country. After this defeat, team is still at the rock bottom position, having now six points less than safely placed Hannover, while play-out placed Paderborn has four points more, which probably is their target - to avoid direct relegation somehow. The team simply needs to get something out of this game, while they welcomes back right full back Didavi (8/2) for this one. Antonio Rudiger is also back from suspension, while coach Huub Stevens probably won't make any changes in comparison to previous games.
Werder Bremen, on the other side, comes from a goalless game against Mainz last weekend. The game itself was very passive one, with neither of the teams willing to risk a lot all the way till 60th minute. Since that moment, players of Werder were more concrete, losing three good goalscoring chances in the progress.
This was their second consecutive draw, as the team now have escaped from the relegation zone to eight points and shouldn't have any further problem regarding their stay. On the other side, they are four points below the Europa League placed Augsburg and have a chance to get the European ticket in case of remarkable results till the end. Central defender Sebastian Prodl (17/3) is suspended for this game, while substitute defender Luca Caldirola (7/1) misses his second consecutive game. Left back Santiago Garcia (24/0) is also out injured, while central back Alejandro Galvez returns to the team and will substitute suspended Prodl.
Home side has shown signs of improvement in previous matches, while Werder surely remains team capable of getting points here. Open game is expected as the hosts have to attack here and search for all three points.
