Standard vs Zulte Waregem by Isaiah
After two positive results early at start, with a point taken on the road against Mechelen and a victory taken in front of own fans against Genk, Standard failed to build up and impress last weekend as they suffered narrow 1:0 loss away to St Truiden.
Actually, must be said that the players of Standard didn't look that bad and stood very well on the field being completely competitive and a good match up to their opponents, however they stood playing with a man less in 87th minute when defender Fai got excluded, playing with nine man couple minutes later when Sa Orlando got red carded as well, while they were very passive trying to defend only and paid the price for it in second minute of additional time when Boli scored the winning goal from St Truiden. No doubt that they want to bounce back now with way more positive result in front of own fans.
Defender Fai (2/0) is suspended now for this one, while doubtful remains forward Mmaee who comes from injury and without playing so far. Midfielder Legear has left the club, while defender Goreux (1/0) remains injured.
Zulte Waregem, on the other side, similar to their tonight's opponents, also didn't manage to maintain continuation of positive results, as the team suffered 1:2 defeat in front of own fans against Club Brugge last weekend, after celebrating victories in first two rounds, over Eupen and St Truiden.
Players of Club Brugge were simply way more concrete with the ball to their feet and deservedly took the double goal lead, via goals from Bonaventure in 22nd and Vossen from the penalty kick in 48th, trying to save some energy from then on, while the hosts reduced in 53rd minute via Leya, without managing to get back into the match completely.
Visitors continue to miss goalkeeper Bossuyt and defender Madu, both without playing so far. Midfielder Coopman (2/1) is doubtful here.
- Last four mutual matches ended with over 2.5 goals & both teams scoring.
Open game is what I expect here from both sides. They both come from negative results last weekend and will be looking to impress in this one. Zulte can't wait behind the ball here, they know it very well, while Standard anyway doesn't impress much in the defensive line. Three goals scored shouldn't be much of a task for these two sides, just like in previous few mutual matches.
