Standard Liege vs Zulte Waregem by Meese
Standard Liege suffered a bit unexpected 2:1 defeat away to Mechelen last weekend, being now in the second part of the table with twenty-two points earned, which is three less than sixth placed Anderlecht and the team remains in a must win situation here before the things get even more complicated regarding their entrance to the play-offs.
However, things have started in a much more different way, with Standard actually taking the lead in that game, with a goal from Sa Orlando in 26th, but lack of concentration at the end of the first halftime (goal from Rits) and at the start of second (Verdier in 53rd) cost them too much. It was simply very ugly time to concede goals and the team didn't react good at that, even though they were overall a bit better side during the match. Team also had a Europa League game on Thursday, having a draw away from home against Celta, which can be described as a very good outcome, but they'll most likely need a victory over Ajax in the sixth round at home. Striker Benito Raman (12/4) is injured.
Waregem, on the other side, comes from a very important 3:2 victory last weekend in a derby game against Anderlecht in maybe one of the most interesting matches so far in the season. They took the lead first, in 9th minute with a goal from Cordaro but the visitors had good phase of the match and managed to revert the scoreline with two goals from Teodorczyk - however that was almost all in offensive part of the game from the guests.
Derijck leveled up the result in 47th minute, while Leye brought the victory to the home team just two minutes later - with them being slightly better till the end of the match. After such an important victory, Waregem remained first at the table, having three points more than Club Brugge at the second position, also already nine points more than out of play-off placed Genk. Right full back Henrik Dalsgaard (no appearance so far) is injured.
Goals look here like granted to me. Standard needs to finally start performing the way they can and need to continue winning in front of own fans at least, while Waregem anyway remains bit better side with deadly serious effort in front of opponents goal.
