Standard vs Esbjerg by Neuro
Despite the fact that they conceded the goal first, Standard passed easily from the headquarters of Oostende with a 4:2 result mostly thanks to the great day that offensive players Batshuayi had. It was their thirteenth consecutive victory, while the team has the best possible start in the league and Europe with all the victories.
Captain van Damme has said that the statistics do not concern them and that the team is looking at each game individually, trying to calm everyone down. In the qualifying phase for the Europa League, Standard passed over Reykjavik, Xanthi and Minsk in the last qualifying round, getting all six victories. Their target is to get through to the next phase and no doubt that tonight's game is very important for them as the team is drawn in a group together with Salzburg and Elfsborg. Recently signed winger Carcela-Gonzalez is suspended, while substitute central defender Ben Haim is doubtful due to injury he has, same as regular defensive midfielder Buyens. The coach Luzon will make a few changes in the roster, just as in every Europa League game, while the team will be field up in a 4-4-2 formation.
Esbjerg had a more than impressive course to their way to the Europa League group stage, as the team made a great surprise in the play-off round beating French side St Etienne. The first game has ended as a 4:3 victory for them, while they stepped up in the repetition too, playing against them without any fear and winning the second game too, this time with a narrow 1:0 result.
After passing the French side, the team got a group stage together with Salzburg, Standard and Elfsborg, the draw that isn't easy for them at all, however they have the right to dream. However their biggest worry is that the team isn't in a very good form at the moment, being without a victory for four domestic matches. They have two draws in a row, are currently with only eleven points and at the middle of the table, being nine points below the current leaders. Guests have no major problems to deal with, while the only absentee is substitute offensive midfielder Mohamemed Fellah who didn't play much till now anyway.
Quality difference between two sides in at the Standard's side for sure. When we look at the form, there is not doubt that the Belgium side should have an easy time overpowering Esbjerg in a game that could easily turn out to be the easiest for them in the group.
