Stabaek vs Lillestrom by Isaiah
Stabaek simply wasn't quality enough last time out in Eliteserien previous weekend as the team suffered 3:1 defeat away to Molde on Sunday evening. Their hosts were much better and more concrete in the first halftime, taking the double lead with goals from Toivio in fourth and Brustad in 37th minute.
Visiting side tried to respond and had more of the ball possession, even reducing the lead of Molde in 58th minute via Kassi and having played with a man more once the hosts stood playing without midfielder Aursnes in 61st minute. Except ball possession, there was very little what they did in attack as the hosts sealed the victory in second minute of additional time thanks to a goal from Sigurdarson, a bit against the flow of the match. Stabaek is now at fifth position, having three points less than Europa League placed sides and four less than leaders from Rosenborg, naturally being in a must win situation here.
Home side should be playing in 4-2-3-1 formation with Omoijuanfo as central striker, plus Njie, Kassi and Brochmann as offensive midfielders. Forward Franck Boli is long term absentee and won't be playing in next weeks for sure.
After a run of negative results earlier in May, Lillestrom comes into this one after a 4:1 victory at home against Tromso as they finally showed that the players have much better potential than relegating fighting sides and that we can expect more from them during the season.
It was surely best their performance this season, but the game didn't start well as they conceded the goal in first minute via Ingebritsen, however managed to reply in ninth minute already via Udoji, continuing to dominate the field and deservedly taking the lead in 54th minute via Knudtzon. Visitors stood playing with a man less since 62nd, as the home team managed to score twice more via Knudtzon again to seal the victory. They are now second from the bottom, having just a point less than safely placed sides, while they have additionally boosted their morale with two victories in Norwegian Cup (against Brumunddal and Ull/Kisa).
Visitos are set to play in their usual 4-4-2 formation with Knudtzon and Udoji as strikers. Forward Bajram Ajeti (9/0) is suspended for this one.
- Stabaek have seen over 2.5 goals in 8 of their last 10 matches against Lillestrom.
It's time for Stabaek to react in this one, while Lillestrom comes with improved psychology with three consecutive victories in last ten days. Hosts are favorites in this one, however with Lillestrom playing very direct football and really concrete on counters, I definitely see this one going easy into more than three goals.
