Sporting vs Leverkusen by Jimeno
Sporting is now undefeated in previous five matches, counting four victories and a draw and are awaiting re-start of Europa League in a really good mood. Most recently, they come from a 4:0 victory on the road against Nacional last weekend.
From the very first moment they looked very serious, taking the lead in fifth minute with a goal from Slimani, while Silva increased at the start of second halftime, sealing the victory with goals from Mario in 63rd and Slimani again in 86th minute, both goals scored from a penalty kick. After this victory, they are now alone at the top of the table having three points more than Benfica and six more than Porto, looking as a deadly serious candidate in a title race now. There is no doubt that the team will be focused on the domestic league in next couple of months at least. Portuguese side will be playing without injured defensive duo - Naldo and Jefferson.
Bayer Leverkusen, on the other side, comes from a 2:1 away victory against Darmstadt, increasing their undefeated streak in Bundesliga to last six matches. However, the things didn't start that well for the visitors, since players of Darmstadt took the lead in 29th minute with a goal from Wagner.
Visitors bounced back with better performance in the second half and managed to revert the scoreline with an own goal in 62nd and a goal from Brandt in 77th minute, however overlal impression is that the players of Darmstadt did more on the field and deserved something out of it. After this victory, the team is again in the third position, but tied up with Hertha Berlin and only two points more than fifth placed Schalke. Leverkusen will miss midfielder Kampl who is suspended, while striker Chicharito and midfielder Kramer remain doubtful and might not be involved here from the off.
Sporting will attack here trying to exploit the home advantage since they anyway now are in a good form, so there is no reason to give up that approach. Leverkusen, on the other side, anyway remains very dangerous in attack on counter attacks, but I believe that if any team is to get a victory here, that would surely be the in-form home team.
