Sparta Rotterdam vs Feyenoord by Meese
Sparta Rotterdam surprised a bit last weekend as the team managed to walk away with a narrow 1:0 victory away from home against NEC Nijmegen in a very important game between two sides which are fighting not to enter the relegation zone. After this three pointer, Sparta is now three points above red zone (play-off placed) Go Ahead Eagles as they surely look to avoid any kind of relegation fight towards the end of the season.
However, it also must be said that they were lucky to steal a three pointer, since their opponents looked better and had much more of the ball possession, even missing a penalty kick in the early phase, while Van Moorsel scored the only goal in 33rd minute, but remaining very reliable in the defense. During the midweek the team didn't manage to make another surprise and were excluded in semifinals of Dutch Cup with a 1:2 defeat at home against Vitesse.
Home side has no injury worries ahead of this game and their starting lineup probably won't change much in comparison to previous weekend.
Feyenoord, on the other side, also managed to get a victory previous weekend in a really important match as the team comes from a 2:1 three pointer in front of own fans against PSV Einhoven and are now closer to get the title overall. It was their eleventh consecutive victory as the team now stands with five points more than second placed Ajax with ten rounds till the end and keep the destiny in their own hands.
Players from Eindhoven had more of ball possession, but Feyenoord looked way more concrete and determined with the ball to their feet. They took the lead already in ninth minute with a goal from Toornstra, while Pereiro leveled up in 62nd minute. Hosts were more determined and more risky towards the end of the match and deserved the winning goal that came as an own one in 82nd minute from PSV's goalkeeper Zoet.
Visitors continue to miss central defender Sven van Beek who anyway didn't perform so far in the season, meaning that they'll also field their best starting lineup.
- Sparta Rotterdam have seen over 2.5 goals in 16 of their last 19 matches against Feyenoord.
Feyenoord is a huge favorite in this one and should get the victory easy, however I also expect quite plenty of goals here too. Sparta knows that they can't afford to wait at the back and just defend, while Feyenoord alone is capable of scoring more than just couple of goals in each game.
