Southampton vs Middlesbrough by Shibby
Barclays Premier League football for me tomorrow in a game that kicks off at 14:15 and will see the Saints host Middlesbrough. The game will be played at St Mary's Stadium. The hosts head into this game after a Europa League draw at home to Hapoel Beer Sheva. The game finished 1-1, they were luck to get a point after a late goal in the 90th minute.
However, a point wasn't enough to see them progress. It looked like it would have been Inter and Southampton that would progress after seeing the draw, however, Sparta Praha and Hapoel have played some great stuff and will progress.
Southampton have impressed me this season in certain games, they find themselves in 12th in the table knowing that win here tomorrow in front of their own fans will see them move up to joint 8th, so I expect they will be concentrating on the league now the Europa League has finished for them. Prior to their Europa League exit, they beat Everton and Arsenal in the league and cup respectively. Their league home form has been good and they have lost just once vs Chelsea 2-0. They do have a few injuries, however, I believe their squad is capable of stepping up.
Their opponents for the game are hard working newcomers Middlesbrough. They do play some good stuff at times, however, I think they will struggle come the end of the season. Middlesbrough have a good away run going in the league at the moment and their last 4 away league games have all ended in a draw (West Ham, Arsenal, Man City and Leicester), so some good teams.
They do head into this game on the back of a 1-0 victory over Hull City. A 60th minute Gaston Ramierez goal secured all 3 points. Both teams do have a few injuries, however, I think the Boro injuries are more key and will give Southampton the edge. I know Boro have a good away record, however, I fancy a Saints win here, therefore, I'll be backing them at 1.73 with Marathonbet. Good luck all.
