Sion vs Lausanne by Gustav
Sion responded in a best possible way after their defeat away to Basel in a season opener, as the team comes from a 2:1 home victory over St Gallen last weekend. They were surely better than the opponent and took the three pointer fully deserved, as the players had a good day and were superior from the very beginning of the game.
They managed to take the lead in 32nd minute after a great action finished by Mujangi with the visitors finding equalizer totally against the flow of the match in 76th minute with a goal from Aleksic. Still, the home team showed their fighting spirit and quickly enough were again in the lead, this time with a goal in 83rd minute scored by Sierro, without leaving time for the players of St Gallen to react.
The team showed great improved in comparison to the game against Basel, while the target today is to get a victory against a newly promoted side. Midfielder Carlitos (2/0) is injured and remains questionable for this one. Also midfielder Daniel Follonier might not be risked, but he anyway didn't play till now. As well as left back Jagne Modou and couple of more that didn't play till now. Coach has demanded another positive and determined performance from his players, saying that the target is always to get a victory in front of own fans.
Lausanne, on the other side, comes from probably the most interesting game in the previous round, as the team had a 4:4 home draw against Thun in an overall, excellent match. This way they have also managed to leave a better impression that what was their league opener was, when the team suffered 2:0 defeat away to Grasshoppers.
However, the team has shown many ups and downs and huge defensive gaps during the ninety minutes. They have took the lead in third minute already, but were back in the scoreline 1:2 after thirty minutes of play, managing to level up the result from a long shot just before the halftime whistle. Towards the end of the game they had the lead twice, in last fifteen minutes, but couldn't manage to keep it, conceding the fourth goal in third minute of additional time.
Even though the team's play saw some improvement, it needs to be said that they still need to improve and work on their experience, in order to stay in the league this season. Their coach has said that they want a positive outcome, but they'll need to make even bigger effort than what they did against Thun. Guests won't be able to count at defender Frascatore, midfielders Pasche and Tejeda as well as forward Zeqiri, all four without playing a single minute this season so far.
Sion is a favorite here and I expect them to get the victory even easier than the odds suggest. Their previous game was much better than the season opener and in case the team continues in the same manner, they should have no problems getting the three pointer easy here.
