Sheffield Wednesday vs Barnsley by Shibby
More Championship action for me, this game is a local derby. A South Yorkshire derby. The game will be played at Hillsborough, Sheffield and will kick off at 19:45. The game will be played between Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley.
The hosts head into this game in good form, well except for their most recent fixture which they lost 2-1 away at promotion chasing Reading. The home side went 2-0 up after shortly after the half time break. However, a 92nd minute goal from Wednesday striker Fletcher pulled a goal back for the Owls. It was a tight game between two strong clubs. Sheff Wednesday currently lie in 7th, just outside the play off places, however, they know a win could see them move to 4th if other results go their way.
What Sheff Wednesday fans need to realise is Reading are a good team, they have been strong and all season and are pushing for promotion. The Owls before that defeat won 2 games in a row, vs Wolves and Preston. Carvahal knows that now is a time for his team to progress and get some points behind them. They have a good run of games coming up and Wednesday have Barnsley tomorrow, then another South Yorkshire derby vs Rotherham United and then Newcastle. So they will surely see 6 points up for grabs vs two local sides.
The visitors Barnsley have also had a good start to life in the Championship, they are currently in 11th, just 3 points behind Wednesday, so I expect them to try and get the win too. However, I think Wednesday have a better squad and are due a good win for their dedicated fans.
Barnsley won their last game on the weekend vs Norwich 2-1, then the week before they beat Birmingham 3-0. I know this won't be an easy game for the Owls, however, I expect them to get 3 points.
Barnsley have Watkins unavailable after a red card, they only have a small squad at Oakwell and with any missing players this will take a huge hit to their squad. Heckingbottom has done an amazing job and seems to have settled Barnsley down and if they can remain in the Championship then it's job well done on the budget he has had.
I can see an Owls win and therefore, will be backing Sheffield Wednesday to win the game at a price of 1.77 with Marathonbet. Good luck all.
