Sheffield Wed vs Brentford by Shibby
More Championship action for me today in a game that will see South Yorkshire side and promotion chasing Sheffield Wednesday host London side Brentford. The game will be played at Hillsborough and will kick off at 15:00.
The hosts have enjoyed a good season thus far, the find themselves in 6th place and in a play off place. I work with a lot of Sheffield Wednesday fans and they are very confident they have a team that can challenge in this league and they will be pushing for an automatic promotion place, at the least a play off place.
Their form lately has been quite up and down, in their last 5 games they have won 2, drawn 2 and lost just once. That was a 3-2 defeat to Shrewsbury in the cup, this was a late late winner which left the Owls downbeat. The last game they lost in the Championship however, was just after Christmas and this was a 1-0 defeat away at Boro, so no real shame in that.
Manager Carvalhal seems to have worked wonders at Wednesday and the squad they have build looks impressive. What strikes me is the fact that Wednesday's last 5 league games have seen BTTS on 4 occasions. I think they've looked good in front of goal this season, however, their defence hasn't been as strong. They have scored 45 goals and conceded 33 goals in their 30 league games this season, so they do average more than a goal per game at both ends.
The visitors are no pushovers, Brentford. I think they will be hoping for a last push for a play off place themselves as they are only 10 points a-drift of a play off spot with 16 games remaining.
Brentford do head into the game on the back of a 3-0 drubbing away at Brighton, however, like Wednesday, Brentford do enjoy goals at both ends. 3 out of their last 4 games has seen BTTS. They too have a high goals F/A, scoring 42 and conceding 44 in their 30 games so far.
Brentford have some good players capable of scoring past many defenders in this league, they always create a lot of chances and I think their big defeat away at Brighton will spur them on to give a better performance today.
I'll be backing BTTS at a price of 1.79 with Unibet, good luck all.
