Sandnes Ulf vs Kongsvinger by 20Legend
After hitting a bump in the road in terms of form earlier in June, things have brightened up significantly for Sandnes Ulf lately. 5-1-1 on their last seven games has brought them from no man’s land and all the way up to 4th place with 38 points. That makes direct promotion the natural target for them as it is only five points up to 2nd placed Sandefjord with seven matches to go this season. However, the club cannot lie down when going further ahead this season as it is only three points down to 7th place which gives nothing at all.
Sandnes Ulf has one of the strongest squads in the league and it is finally looking that way after being delivering various performances in the summer. Their best striker Pontus Engblom has still been able to deliver a great season since the beginning with 19 goals so far. He contributed once again in their last game against 14th placed KFUM Oslo (1-3) with a penalty goal, together with two goals from his striking partner Kent Havard Eriksen (10 goals). It was another game where Sandnes enjoyed fully control after getting the 1-3 lead already inside the first 45 minutes.
Kongsvinger is also very much in the fight for direct promotion themselves with the same amount of points as Sandnes Ulf (38 pts). That gives them a 5th place at the table, but also the same scenario as today’s host with five points up to direct promotion. Kongsvinger came back into OBOS-Ligaen after delivering a splendid season in 2nd Division last season. However, it was no doubt that the squad had much stronger potential only trying to get relegated this season.
Now, the club is fighting for promotion and their recent results should frighten every upcoming opponent in the last seven remaining games. 5-2-0 is their current unbeaten row which includes two great wins away from home against 2nd placed Sandefjord (1-2) and 1st placed Kristiansund (1-2). Their last game was won against 13th placed Ranheim (1-0) that was quickly decided in their own favor after the decisive goal came only 13 minutes into the game. However, it was a controlled game in the end where Kongsvinger dominated the possession despite not scoring more goals.
The importance of this game is equal form both teams who are also in great form at the current moment. It is only seven games left of the season which leaves every remaining game as a golden opportunity in order to catch the 2nd place five points ahead. It should be an entertaining game with two offensive teams on the pitch and over 2.5 goals will be the pick.
